stargate fan Posted December 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2017 We will be in Barbados on February 28, 2018. Since this is our first time to the island, we'd like to see the island. One thing in particular that interests us is Nidḥe Israel Synagogue. Has anyone visited the synagogue on your own or as part of a tour? We'd also like to visit some of the other Seven Wonders of Barbados, (Google barbados dot org/7wonders) including Harrison's Cave, and Mt. Gay Rum distillery. Would hiring a taxi at the port be the best way? Thanks for any advice.
Giantfan13 Posted December 30, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2017 We did a private tour, several years ago, where our tour driver dropped us off at the Synagogue and then picked us up about an hour later and back to our ship. The Synagogue and cemetery are very nice and, if interested, definitely worth a look. There is also a museum as part of the synagogue, but it wasn't open when we visited. Some photos of our visit http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/IMG_9906_zpsvccprz8r.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/barbados/IMG_9894_zpsawuvmxif.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/barbados/IMG_9896_zpsnvkdqi7f.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/IMG_9905_zps1iypwuon.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/IMG_9901_zpsuh6zchb8.jpg Cheers Len
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2017 We have visited there a few times on our own as well. We were fortunate that someone let us in so we could go inside. Here are some of our photos. Right nearby is a very old church. Keith
allentownahoy Posted January 1, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2018 This is very easy to do on your own and well worth it. The synagogue, cemetery and museum are all open on weekdays ( not sure about weekend) and much time, money and effort has been put into preserving them. Just take a taxi or shuttle into town and then walk the few blocks to the synagogue complex. I forget if we found a map or actual directions on line.ti

Rare Keith1010 Posted January 5, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2018 How far is it from the cruise dock? We like to walk so about a 45 minute walk. About 10 minutes by taxi. Keith

Baseball fan Posted January 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2018 My parents went years ago (on their own). They enjoyed it. My stepdad bought a T-shirt that said Barbados in Hebrew. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
