Hi nice to be back! Unfortunately had a huge data breach and, a new email, so shoot me an email and we can reconnect. This applies also to any guy that wants to say hello.

Thanks, man.  I wanted to say hello.  Tried your email, but it didn't go through.  Maybe I got it wrong.  Would like to ask you more about some of the ships you were on and maybe other vacation destinations that are good sauna/steam experiences.

Just back from a 12 night sailing on the Caribbean Princess.
I'm please to say the the free single sex facilities are still in place & consist of a 7/8 man sauna & a similar sized steam room. There are three showers with semi frosted glass doors & a drinking water fountain. Towels are plentiful as are free combination lockers.  The attendant was a polite friendly guy who was always about keeping the area clean.   Outside the M & F locker rooms are two freestanding signs which state ' For Spa Users Only' (or similar wording).   I queried this & was told that the signs are misleading & that the sauna/steam facilities are indeed for everyone to use.    The facility wasn't exceptionally busy & always had the same 5/6 people in when I visited - I expect the signage may have had something to do with that!  I had a few nice conversations but nothing more as the people weren't to my personal choice to spend time with.

Cruising on Carnival Firenze in a couple of months. Does anyone know if there is a men’s sauna?

Hi jer-I.  The Firenze is the sister ship to the Venezia so they should be the same in the men's area and are free to use.  I was on Venezia out of New York City on 10-28-23 and really enjoyed the facilities.  It is hard to get a good idea of the deck plans on those two ships though because they are not like the other Carnival ships in the fleet with interactive deck plans.  Theirs are just in pdf form.  However, if you go to cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/index.php you can see a better representation and they both look the same to me.  Also, if you go to the other board, "Fitness, Spa & Sports Cruises" under Special Interest Cruising and then go to page 75, posting 1862 on 8-25-23 that was posted by Mojitos24 they posted some really great pictures of the men's area.  Hope that helps and enjoy your cruise!

I am on the Euribia next week. Will give update 🙂

Hi _Aquarius_.  I saw your posting that you were going to be on the MSC Seashore in October, 2023.  Is that ship in the same class as the MSC Seascape?  I live in Texas and have cruised on 57 Carnival cruises but MSC is building a new terminal with parking garage in Galveston and will be porting the Seascape there.  It is open for bookings already starting November, 2025.  Since we can't go any higher in the Carnival loyalty program, and MSC has a matching program we are thinking we might try the Seascape.  I have looked on the deck plan for Seascape and found the gym located on Deck 8 but it doesn't have any indications where the sauna is.  On the link for saunas/steamrooms on this site it shows there is a free men's sauna but no steamroom.  Can you tell me a little more about the layout if it is the same as the ship you were on?  Thanks, Larry.

Hey!

Has anyone been on the Celebrity Eclipse recently? How is the free sauna in the men's changing room? Sailing on June 30th.

Hi 🙂 I was on Eclipse for the May 26th sailing. The sauna in the changing room worked great every time I used it, feeling nice and hot but not overly so. The space isn't huge but it is a decent size, and close to a square in shape. It has an upper and lower bench which wrap around to the right as you walk in. We had up to four guys in there comfortably. Any more might be a bit tight. Three showers are just outside the sauna. The lockers are set up with self-setting combination locks that can be challenging to figure out, even with the posted instructions. Have fun!

Thanks so much! I am really looking forward to a nice week...., especially after my last cruise on the Caribbean-bound MSC Meraviglia the 3rd week of December...the one that went to Canada instead because of bad weather in the Caribbean! The ship and crew and sauna were great...but 28* outside instead of 83* just wasn't quite the same!

It's a new year and I've added Oceania Cruise ships to the database.

A friendly reminder to all users to the database...

*******

Best viewed on desktop or laptop. (using a mouse)

Steam/Sauna Database

As a reminder to all, ANY change you make to the database is auto-saved. There is no temporary change while you are on it. That means if you highlight ships to compare them. It is permanent. If you change the formatting of the data in any way, or for some reason change the order of the ships it stays that way when you exit.

The DB then needs to be cleaned up (not that hard to do) but still takes time.

Enjoy!

Thank you for this; it is such a huge help to me.

I think someone may have messed up the spreadsheet again. When I went in just now, some of the headers for the steam room section were missing. Thanks again to whoever maintains (and fixes) the database.

And....now I see in the Sauna list there are TWO columns for Free and Not Co-ed....and most say yes in one and no in the other! OMG!

So we are sailing with the Carnival Paradise but I'm seeing conflicted info about the free gym locker room single sex steam and sauna rooms ... Can someone advise about the current situation?

Also, we sail Utopia OTS but I guess any free sauna is out of the question? 🙂

Thank you all for your help!

RE: Paradise. The spreadsheet is correct. I've seen deck plans that show two saunas and two steam, but the men's locker room side is one big sauna, and the women's locker room side is one big steam. Both are coed. The lockers are in the hallway leading from lobby to gym. The showers are in a big open room with the toilets with no benches.

None of the new ships since Oasis has free sauna/steam. But I paid for a day pass for the spa on Allure and met a chatty guy in the men’s change room.

I just got off the Emerald Princess.  Most deck plans show both sauna and steam in the men's and women's changing rooms (like the Caribbean Princess), but they have been replaced with showers.  There are NO free steam and/or sauna.  😞

It’s been like that for over a year. The sauna/steam spreadsheet was updated and states this…

December 2022: No sauna on the ship. 3 various size & tempurature steam rooms are available for purchase. Feb 2023: Locker room sauna and steam rooms were removed during the recent refurbishment.”

The deck plans on Princess’ website do not show steam or sauna any longer for Emerald Princess, but they do show on the Caribbean Princess deck plans. See difference below.

A good reminder to all, never look at random deck plans you might find in Google search results as they are often outdated. Always go to the cruise line’s website.

I was very disappointed when I found out they had been removed, we were on it in 2022 and there was ahreat sauna and steam. Won't be going on it again.

I had a 16 day Norway cruise booked on this ship in June.  Cancelled it as soon as I got home!

I just returned yesterday from Carnival Legend in Europe and I am happy to report that in the month-long dry dock in April and May there was a complete makeover in the men's only locker/fitness area!  The best news is that these facilities remain FREE OF CHARGE!  Gone is the long hallway where the 4 showers were in enclosed separate rooms.  The showers are now "semi-open" with curtains.  Of course, you can enjoy an open shower by simply not closing the curtain!  The steam room and sauna are across from the showers and have also been re-done.  Both have glass doors and the sauna now has single level seating on both sides.   The steam room has a short bench seat on one side to accommodate a wheelchair. The lockers are also new and the curtain that used to be just inside the main door has been replaced with a short wall.  There are two toilets (one is accessible).  The Fitness Center had all the machines replaced with new equipment and the hot tub that was formerly in the center was removed and replaced with more new machines.  I also took pictures of the Fitness Center if anyone is interested in seeing them.  These are the pictures I took the first day I was on the ship.  I didn't explore any of the Cloud 9 Spa treatment rooms or other areas there because I had all I needed in the single sex men's locker room!20240707_080442.thumb.jpg.9291b03a93c0e1029395fc2c2fb397d4.jpg20240707_081443.thumb.jpg.f75e8ba583448c3cd6c9b948499637bc.jpg20240707_080456.thumb.jpg.8cddcde172352d16ecba7b3532b72e84.jpg20240707_080508.thumb.jpg.c742cea7f61c91dc4f67b7588ae13a25.jpg20240707_080607.thumb.jpg.a6a524aa56132058ba5ad1e2553280bc.jpg20240707_080611.thumb.jpg.40da43376cc46d485599abf2a16be76b.jpg20240707_080616.thumb.jpg.c61b6c9b4264daeb74346a3166dc5e1d.jpg20240707_080629.thumb.jpg.0142991ac64e83b127f6fb264a8ae39e.jpg20240725_190103.thumb.jpg.123a0ae7058f805b01608a2484871245.jpg20240707_080707.thumb.jpg.4afbf480297eabd04ebd474db63e2c09.jpg20240707_080719.thumb.jpg.884904385c371e9d632dcfc1196327ab.jpg20240707_081359.thumb.jpg.738b52dec9961d566010ea253a4cbf6c.jpg20240707_081351.thumb.jpg.d9089cf3c308bfc7d2c80f4f09947c08.jpg20240721_185329.thumb.jpg.239759b93551a8632f05e295cb822cfd.jpg20240721_185334.thumb.jpg.f2fc803dd577285b8f7555317f265325.jpg20240707_080516.thumb.jpg.51cd891dbdc2a1d013c769f532e0e1b4.jpg20240707_081531.thumb.jpg.7dcd5e3852ced53f9fc0a58d1940e276.jpg20240707_081504.thumb.jpg.ae78110e0bb36b9edb1808f0a2fa970f.jpg20240707_081518.thumb.jpg.71df66ade25dda46c47d10e4915bfa0b.jpg20240707_080537.thumb.jpg.f6965352cb43602476b7e2c87756803d.jpg20240707_080534.thumb.jpg.79d0a3b08ae79920268bfe18b4c16b63.jpg
