Open dining on NA

I heard there is a podium near the Canaletto where I can make dining reservations. Will this be available as soon as we board? We want a table for 2 if possible.

The majority of the time the podium is right by the Canaletto.

There have been a couple of times when we saw them stationed out by the center elevators.

On embarkation on ou 1.13.18 sailing, the podium was moved and located near the Lido pool.

There may not be anyone at the MDR podium when you board, but you can just call ext 88 from your room if there is no one at the "near Canaletto" podium.

Yes, but was told it was for 2 nights not 3 as had been reported. However we spoke to a supervisor in the dining room the first night and he secured the same table for the rest of the cruise.

First time on HAL but experienced cruisers. We are on NA in March (Eastern) and have 4 nights in Specialty (PG, Tamarind, Sel De Mer Pop Up, Canaletto) since we are foodies. I am concerned about waiting for table for 2 for night 1 since we chose open seating. Will calling ext 88, or finding that podium upon embarkation allow us to reserve / request table for 2 ahead of dinner on night 1? Or will we have to wait with everyone at 6:00 and grab that table for the other three nights in MDR? Does having a Signature Suite help with reservations or just the NS?
