Is there a PR department we can write to though cruise critic or is there someone specific to write to if we experience a problem?

Thanks so much in advance!

I'm sure someone here can help but it might be better to identify your concern. Are you having a problem with Cruise Critic or Princess?

We took a cruise in October that was an absolute disaster! We were booked with 35% (approximately 900 men) of the ship gay porn models, actors and their fan club:eek: . We were cruising with our 8 year old daughter. We found out about 11 days prior to sailing that this group would be on board. We have no problem with the "gay" part of it-it's the "porn models, actors and fans" we had a problem with-and our daughter witnessing their activities. Princess refused to change sailing dates, ships, refund or credit a future cruise due to these circumstances. The week was a total wreck!

Without a lot of details here-we wrote a formal complaint to the CEO of Princess along with about 6 other "upper management" people. The response we got-and I quote the lady from Princess-"You could have gotten off the ship if you witnessed something that disturbed you." HELLLLO-where could I get off? We forgot to pack the blow up life raft! I didn't think the emergency evacuation boats could be rented either! We didn't reach our first port until Wednesday after setting sail on Sunday-the damage was done! (We made a "humanitarian aid" stop in Cozumel but couldn't get off on Tuesday)I doubted we could get flights back to the US-and our home state-from Grand Cayman or Jamaica if we just got off the ship with all of our luggage in hand and headed to the airport! She also said they were sorry about the large "affinity" group and the poor service we received but there was nothing they would do.

Another couple who were on the same cruise got the exact same response! I sent in pics, chatroom excerpts from this group bragging about using the kiddie pool and a 5 page letter. They knew about the potential problems prior to sailing and refused to help. Princess obviously doesn't care about repeat customers. Good luck and I hope you get a better response-we won't be cruising Princess again!

  ....WOW......I can't think of a worse experience........Princess needs to step up to the plate on this......especially of they knew what the group was at their booking.

I am sure they had to face the ......"we can't discriminate" issue,......... but they had a resposibilty to not offend others, ..........not with the gay issue, but with the PORN issue......

My guess is you will get more comments from others...........print them and send them to Princess.

Here we go again. When is it against the law for porn actors to go on vacation? There’s already been a big upheaval (and a few deleted threads) on this issue. There’s been no hard evidence there was any untoward activity going on in any public area of the ship and some who were on the trip said that those in the group were unobtrusive. So before we blow it all out of proportion again – based on websites we don’t understand and chat rooms where people brag – let’s consider the facts available to us. The only thing Princess didn't do was disclose who was on it's passenger list - which would be against privacy protections so couldn't be done - or let people out of the cruise they signed a contract for.

I think it's admirable that Princess is an inclusive cruise line. While I would prefer they not welcome on board their ships right wing conservative groups, I appreciate the fact that Princess welcomes everyone. Including those who think jeans are formal.

And to answer the original poster, choose the contact information from the Princess website.

Sounds like some hard evidence and in his mind they were obtrusive. If this is acceptable way to go on vacation and Princess condones it, then they should expect the backlash. If it was me, I'd be emailing pictures to Princess executives too.

I didn’t miss the point and the Princess Executives have already been sent pictures if those who post here are being truthful. You notice the poster doesn’t indicate what “their activities” is. There have been plenty of suggestions of this activity – like filming scenes in the public pool areas – based on inflated and inflamed ideas, but no evidence has been presented that any of “their activities” was really anything as horrendous as some would like you to believe. In fact there have been reports back that "their activities" were in no way disturbing for any young children.

I’d love to see the pictures too.

Wow.

Brian, I thought we'd seen the end of this subject when they pulled that thread two months ago....;)

On the other hand - thanks for the great review of your recent cruise, on the Dawn - we sailed her three times and she remains my favorite ship.

Happy Holidays.

1) No one said it was against the law for porn starts to cruise

2) It is not that they were on vacation, but rather making a movie on the ship and the actors were traveling as pornstars for their fans. Big diffrence then a pornstar taking a holiday.

3) There is "hard"evidence, but the poster could not post the said pictures here. Perhaps you should email the poster for the hard evidence.

4) whether it is against the law or not, Princess has an obligation to keep their ships kid friendly in the public area's as long as they advertise to be a kid friendly cruise.` The pictures that I saw, the story about a balcony and other stuff would of pushed me to sue. I would demand a full refund for all expenses. If it means taking the issue public...I would. Lesson learned. Don't mess with my children. I have a hard enough time keeping them protected from adult natured entertainment.

ROTFL!!!!!! Can we get an "AMEN!" Actually, I think it might be sort of fun to get a large Republican's for Jesus group AND a gay porn actors group all on the same ship TOGETHER! Imagine the high-jinx at sea!! :D

And there are reports that a child was exposed to it while she was on her balcony. I am not saying the reports you speak of are not true. My guess is they were not exposed to it by chance. I believe both reports. It is possible for two people on a 2,000+ passengers ship to see different things. Since you are so quick to point out "there have been reports back that "their activities" were in no way disturbing for any young children. " And take that as word.....why would you not believe the poster who said his child was exposed to adult natured behavior? Very convenient for your argument.

As for pictures, unless poster X gives me permission to share the pictures I will not do so. If you like you can go to the website and see pictures of guys grabbing their "member" in public, you will also see 6 men on a balcony, during the day, all naked, filming a movie. Now, if my cabin was next door, you can bet the house that I would of had a problem. Now, for the sake of the thread..."I am out" And yes, that does mean I will not be back on this thread!! Bye!

Just a FYI - I hear this group has scheduled their next cruise on RCCL.

This issue gets very clouded because it actually contains two elements: 1) they are gay and 2) they are porn actors.

The objections I hear are based on the latter issue. I have no idea why this is so difficult for some of you to understand. I would not want my children (or myself) on vacation with a group that was filming porn. They were not "on vacation", they were WORKING. Much of the hard evidence you seem to want is available to you on their website.

Last thing: I find the reference to "Republicans for Jesus" to be highly offensive. I am a Christian and I have nothing but love and respect for gay people. There was no reason to bring a comment like that into it.

This all got very emotional when someone on the cruise roll call discovered that the group was going to be on board prior to sailing. A campaign was started here to demand that Princess take action a couple weeks before sailing. So, no matter what happened, the group in question had already been judged by some. The threads here were even linked to at least one other web site where members there used the issue as an opportunity to state their opinions here, and attack some CC members for whom they have publicly expressed their dislike. In other words, it had been blown out of proportion before anything even happened.

Oh, and as for things posted on message boards, I could copy some comments that one of the participants opposed to the gay group in this thread has made on another web site...but that would only served to inflame and taken out of context, would not be fair to that individual. It's easy to selectively portray an individual or a group as something else with the electronic equivalent of a 7-second sound bite. By the way, the fellow I mention is pretty decent in most respects. He's just said things in jest that if taken seriously, could be used to damage him.

Fast forward, and someone reports terrible things going on involving naked bodies and video equipment on a neighboring balcony. Well, at least they weren't smoking...some incidents obviously did take place and some people were asked to leave the ship. Others on the same cruise reported no problems and stated that all the terrible things people were afraid of, NEVER ACTUALLY TOOK PLACE IN PUBLIC.

You can find several threads on these message boards where people brag of sexual encounters in public places on board ship...and they are highly subscribed threads. You don't see the people invested in this topic piling on those threads, yet there is no difference in my mind. It leads one to conclude that the justification used by those opposed to the group in question is based less on propriety and values than perhaps hate.

And for those who have joked about principles, I am a conservative. So are many of my friends. Some of my friends are liberal, a few are gay, and most don't have any political affiliation. It's odd that some liberals, who have so recently made such a fuss about civil rights and basic freedoms, are chortling about denying basic freedoms (freedom of association, freedom to travel, even the basic pursuit of happiness) to a group that they might find distasteful even though they might not be doing anything wrong. That is wrong in any form, and that is why it is wrong to pre-judge this group.

I understand the emotions involved, but those who oppose the gay actors cannot demand that Princess do your dirty work to satisfy your prejudices. Some obviously have not accepted that, and perhaps that is why this issue was revived on a thread that had been silent for a few days.

I for one think that people should be told about what happened on this cruise with that group. People that posted about this were on that cruise. Were you? Take off your blinders. This isn't about a gay group. It's about behavior that should not have gone on in front of other passengers including children. Of course I'm sure by now you have hit the triangle for this thread to disappear. I hope the folks at RCI know what they are getting themselves in for next year with booking this group.
