138east Posted January 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2018 anyone know good hotels near the Cunard port? We arrive the day before sailing. What is the exact date you need a hotel? What is your hotel budget? Number of people? Any special requirements? What airport are you flying into? Do you have any precruise sightseeing requirements in NYC? Bottom line - there are no hotels right at the port, but there are lots of hotels in Brooklyn as well as elsewhere. Your budget and exact date are going to determine your choices. princeton12321 Posted January 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2018 The major decision will be whether to stay in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Upscale Brooklyn hotels these days aren’t dramatically less expensive than their manhattan counterparts. It’s easy to get to Red Hook from either place via Uber, taxi, or even ferry. Like another poster said- there’s nothing there right by the pier (it’s a former industrial zone that was blighted and is slowly turning residential) so you’re commuting in anyway. Rare Got2Cruise Posted January 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2018 You didn’t state your budget and I know there are less expensive options but Marriott Brooklyn Bridge is in an excellent location if you wish to walk the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan and then walk to 9/11 Memorial World Trade Center area. If you don’t wish to do sightseeing then this property is a waste of money. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
138east Posted January 18, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2018 may 16. sail 17th. arrive JFK Time of flight arrival? Hotel budget? Can I assume 2 people, no sightseeing, and no special requirements? May 16 is a Wednesday, so normally high prices will be in effect. Budget range is important. Taxi fare to Manhattan is fixed, so it could be less expensive to go to lower Manhattan than a metered fare to a Brooklyn hotel. That could make a downtown hotel more price competitive and it would definitely be in a more interesting location.

Brighton Line Posted January 22, 2018 #11 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Cyclones cap does give a nod to the real Dodgers but I've also been accused of being a Red Sox fan when wearing it.
