Hello everyone . . . I made it to my Pre Cruise Hotel safely. It was about a 3 Hr drive from my home in Maryland. There wasn't much traffic, but I had to watch a little news when I arrived. . .

I see that Anthem of the Seas will be be arriving to Cape Liberty tonight. It was suggested that a patient needed emergency assistance. I hope all works out well for the passenger.

I was able to meet several Cruise Critic members that I have been chatting with for years, It was very nice to see all of them, and I am very happy that we will be sailing tomorrow for 9 nights. I am sure there will be lots of jokes throughout the week.

The forecast for tomorrow will be very cold, but no rain or snow. My hotel is only about 15-20 min from the pier so I will be able to stop briefly at the pharmacy for some cough medicine. I should have remembered to bring some.

I am very happy about all of the nice comments being sent my way, and I am hoping for a very nice cruise with my ability to post many images of the beautiful Anthem of the Seas.

Radio may I make a photo request? Could you please take a picture of the Welcome to the Bahamas sign for me? The one that everyone puts stickers on. I'm curious if it survived the hurricanes and if my Wife's business sticker is still there. It's on the left.

Thanks

Hello everyone . . . Good morning. Today is Cruise Day! It seems that I woke up at “Radio Dark30” as I often do on cruise day. It is very cold this morning up here in Elizabeth, NJ. I wasn’t sure if I could get a cup of coffee in the Lobby. “Sorry Radio . .. It is only 4:30AM, and coffee is not available until the breakfast team arrives” Grrr . . . They didn’t arrive at 5AM or even 5:30AM. . . Oh the Humanity. I walked over to Marriott Residence Inn and had a nice cup. OK. . .things are looking better now. I really liked Embassy Suites (except for the coffee hours)

Wasn’t it David Letterman who once suggested “A man’s best friend is a freshly brewed cup of hot coffee”? Oh well. I think it was. . . I am happy that Anthem of theSeas is securely docked at Cape Liberty in Bayonne, and there may be over 4500 passengers who might want to finish the debarkation process.

My check in time is 12:30 PM, so I have a little time before I have to head to the pier. I hope I remembered everything . . . I guess I will find out soon. There is a shopping center on the way to the pier for a quick stop to pick up some meds. My luggage is ready, and my batteries have been charged. I should have time for a light breakfast before I head over to Bayonne.

I will see you onboard Anthem of the Seas. Thanks for tuning in . . .

Looking forward, as always, to your review! We'll be embarking when you return. Please leave some money in the slot machines for me. :)

There is so much talk of the flu being rampant now. Would you please report back on the apparent general health of most of the passengers? Someone earlier mentioned that there were many heavy chest colds on board during the previous sailing.

Are you taking the Hotel Shuttle to the port? We are staying at the same hotel getting on board when you get off. How are you stopping at the store? We would like to pick up Soda/Pop, but we are doing the shuttle. Thanks

Does RCI now allow you to take soda/pop on board? We tried with a small case of water a few cruises ago and we couldn't take it.

Really looking forward to your reviews Radio. We are sailing on the Anthem for the first time on the 28th. So excited. Trying to get packed. I had to chuckle about you saying how cold it was. That is about the temperature here today and we are thinking it is so warm! Guess it depends on where a person lives. Haha

Hello everyone . . . I am onboard ;-) I left the hotel around 10:30AM to go over to Cape Liberty. There was no traffic until I arrived at the pier. The traffic was caused by cars dropping off passengers, and other cars dropping off luggage. The delay was only about 10 minutes.

Security was very easy to get through, and I didn’t have to wait in a long line to get checked in with my Set Sail Pass. A friendly Rep scanned my pass and checked me in quickly. I then boarded the ship and my friends at Sorrento’s. The total time from my entry in the Terminal to stepping foot on the ship was less than 15 min. The check in process was very efficient.

I just finished muster drill, and sail away was scheduled for 3PM.(we are a little late) I will be dining tonight at Jamie’s Italian which I am looking forward to. The welcome aboard show is scheduled for 8:30PM. I have to try to squeeze in a little Casino Royale as well.

Here are a few pics from embarkation. . . Thanks for tuning in.

Still against the rules, but normally allowed. We've had good luck putting the water in a rolling suitcase.

Watching your sail away on the Port of NY web cam. Looks like when you left the dock you took a scenic route toward Manhattan sailing by the Statue of Liberty before turning around and heading toward the Verrazano Bridge. Also looks like the North Star was running during your sail away. I imagine the views of NYC were pretty amazing.

I just saw the ship make a "u-turn" outside my building in downtown Manhattan. Happy to hear it was just a scenic tour and not some sort of emergency.
