Shaver John Posted January 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Just checking out something on the internet and found out that the Fort Lauderdale Hyatt Regency at Pier 66 has been sold. Yikes. Now we just had to book at the Hyatt Place. Think someone would have told us, but did not hear anything about it. So glad we checked it out, would not have been happy to pull up at 10pm on Feb. 14 after a long day at the air ports only to find out we either had no room, or at least were not able to get our Hyatt points with our stay. Anyone else have this happen to them, guess we will need to keep up on things like this, we book really early for our cruises and this is the first time anything like this has happened. mllewis48 Posted January 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2018 It is no longer part of the Hyatt Brand but is still a Hotel, now called Pier 66 Hotel and Marina I believe, Check it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
waltd Posted January 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2018 The last time we were there we were told the hotel was going to get a major remodel. Then the hurricane hit and the hotel had to be closed. Now that the hotel is back open again I doubt we will ever see the $99 room rate again. We enjoyed staying there and being close to the cruise center.
CruiserBruce Posted January 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2018 The Pier 66 situation has been discussed extensively on the Florida Departures board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495 as have the issues with all the hotels impacted by the hurricanes. I suspect the Mods will move this over there.
timtrek Posted January 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2018 (edited) I made a reservation at the Hyatt Pier 66 for the end of March last year and had not heard anything about a change. I looked today after reading this thread and my reservation was there, just not the Hyatt any more. I also saw that rates had dropped considerably so I cancelled and rebooked a better room with the Cruise and Snooze offer and saved 45.00. Thanks for the thread! Go-Bucks! Posted January 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2018 If you want a similar location and nice hotel, book the Hilton Marina in a tower room. It was great and our balcony overlooked the cruise port. The Island Princess looked so close we thought we could touch it. ;)
