63 Super Sport Posted January 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) Does anyone have any recommendations? Our interest is history and learning about the culture. I am looking for either a taxi service or company for private tours. Thanks. Edited January 23, 2018 by 63 Super Sport add
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2018 We just waited till we arrived and walked to the parking lot and made arrangements for a tour. There is not a lot of history there though. Keith
2 cruzen Posted January 24, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2018 The museum in Cockburn Town is small but interesting. Took a shared taxi there.
sajohnston Posted August 3, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2018 Is the museum walkable or do you have to take a taxi there?
Loonbeam Posted August 4, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2018 Long walk, technically doable I guess. The entire island is 7 miles end to end so theoretically everything is walkable. There's just not that much to see land wise on the island and not really much in the way of history (as noted the museum is interesting). I don't recall even seeing many taxis at the port offering the usual guiding services although there must have been some.
teknoge3k Posted August 4, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 4, 2018 I would rent a golf cart and go out on your own. The island is small and you can go anywhere on the island on a golf cart except the airport and port area. There is a small museum in Cockburn Town you can visit. Rare crewsweeper Posted August 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Does anyone have any recommendations? Our interest is history and learning about the culture. I am looking for either a taxi service or company for private tours. Thanks. The taxi drivers at the port are well versed on island history and very proud of their island. Just get off the ship and walk to the parking lot and ask one. If you're not comfortable with person or attitude, ask another. Golf carts are over rated. Since the hurricanes, many people have had issues and you need to know where you're going or looking for. If you DO rent one, be sure to get a map of the island beforehand. The island IS small, but the roads are usually not marked, so a map would be good to have.
