ohnonotmeagain Posted January 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Hi Relatively new to this site, please be gentle! I'm looking for the prices of bottles of wine not glasses in MDR Britannia [29/4/18].I'm trying to decide if a wine package is worth it. ie; save UP to 15% or just PAYG.Not a wine buff just as long as it's quaffable:o Bar prices I seem to have found much more easily but the wine prices........ TIA Mark:)
wowzz Posted January 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Unless you want to buy the slightly more expensive wines, at, say £20 or more per bottle, I don't think the wine package is worth it. The house wine at around £16.50, plus other bottles at £18 or so seemed quite OK to this non-conoisseur! I'm sure others will tell you exactly how much you would save if you did buy a wine package, but I found the payg option the easiest. The wine package does offer a saving if you are buying slightly more expensive wines but we find there are several wines we've tried and enjoyed at price points below £20. PAYG suits us well too. mercury7289 Posted January 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2018 Go into P.O advise center, scroll down to wine package this opens up the two available packages: The Commodore's collection and the Captains collection. Only you can decide the value. I have the Commodore's

terrierjohn Posted January 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2018 On any cruise or hotel holiday I always start with the lowest priced bottle of my favourite red wine, and if necessary work my way up the prices till I find one that I enjoy. But rarely do I need to test more than 1 bottle, which probably says more about my tastes than the cruise lines wine list.

Rare DamianG Posted January 25, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 25, 2018 It's all very subjective depending on your taste. In the past (from memory) the wine packages were a set selection (which didn't appeal to us) whereas now you can mix and match so at least that is an improvement. We had a look last year but decided against it and just bought bottles at dinner depending on what we were eating and what we fancied. We found Chenin Blanc, Lowry’s Pass, Western Cape £14.95 and Pinot Grigio delle Venezie IGT, Veritiere £15,50 suited our taste amongst the cheaper whites and Gavi di Gavi, La Minaia, Nicola Bergaglio, Piedmont £19,50 of the more pricier ones. Amongst the reds we particularly liked Hunter’s Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand £18.95 and the more expensive Malbec, Catena, Mendoza, Argentina £22,50. The Pinot Noir was so smooth that even my (non-red wine drinking) mother-in-law managed a glass! All the best Damian
ohnonotmeagain Posted January 25, 2018 Author #17 Share Posted January 25, 2018 on reflection, I think we will PAYG, much more varied choice than the package dictates. Thanks everyone for your help.
