Glitter22 Posted March 7, 2018 #26 Share Posted March 7, 2018 We have been in an aft suite on Navigator (946) in 2016 and our experience means that we would never choose this location again. We reported a few times that the vibration was so severe that it caused our TV to bang against the wall. We had previously sailed midships on deck 8 without any issues. Rare wishIweretravelling Posted March 7, 2018 #27 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Meanwhile it is not the end of the world if we end up on a G. That part of the world is cold so we don't really need a veranda. We are booked on the 89-night "Arctic Splendors" this June, and affirmatively chose a G from the outset for exactly that reason. Most of the cruise is in colder climates, and neither of us is big on balcony sitting. We do have an Atlantic crossing, but have found that, at least on the lower decks, the balcony gets a lot of sea spray, so it's not particularly pleasant out there while at sea. And while we're in port, we tend to be out and about. We did locate close to midship on deck 6 so that we're close to the door outside, in case there's something we want to pop out to see. Travelcat2 Posted March 7, 2018 #28 Share Posted March 7, 2018 All one has to do is sit in La Veranda and watch your glass "dance" across the table to know how the vibration would feel. Alternatively, sit in the theater - another area where it is felt strongly. I don't need to be in an aft suite to know how it feels as I know from eating breakfast, etc. Some itineraries are so smooth that the vibration is not as bad and some people are simply not bothered by it. Keep in mind that vibration - even if it doesn't bother you is accompanied by noise of things rattling around. While they may have changed drawers during the refurbishment, drawers open and bang close (and this wasn't even in an aft suite - it was in slightly rough seas). It was on the Navigator that I learned to pack duct tape -- just in case we need to tape the drawers shut.
Bellaggio Cruisers Posted March 8, 2018 #29 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Our next two cruises are on the Navigator. We chose both cruises for the itinerary. First is up the coast of Norway into northwestern Russia. Some ports that we have not visited. The Explorer is doing some of the ports that we have already visited so we chose the Navigator. The second is from Singapore to Dubai. Bucket list ports for us. For both cruises, we are on deck 9, center-forward. Been in these suites before and they are fine. For us, it's all about the experience. Explorer is still our favorite however, we are more concerned about the itinerary rather than the ship. Explorer is still our favorite. And always on Regent. 10-777 Posted March 23, 2018 #31 Share Posted March 23, 2018 On the Navigator right now. It seems people on Deck 8 aft cabins are the ones complaining of the vibration and noise from the theatre, show nights and when they rehearse. We are on Deck 8 midship and are happy. Travelcat2 Posted March 23, 2018 #32 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Deck 8 midship, IMO is perfect!
cruisechk Posted April 11, 2018 #33 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Deck 8 midship, IMO is perfect! The vibrations can be bad aft. My friend said it was so bad that she was able to change her cabin and was much happier. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Travelcat2 Posted April 11, 2018 #34 Share Posted April 11, 2018 In my opinion, it really depends upon your sensitivity. The Voyager also has an aft vibration (less than the Navigator) and we spent time in La Veranda discussing the vibration (not significant but constant at times and you can definitely feel it). We could not understand how some posters state that they feel no vibration. Apparently some people either are not aware of it or it doesn't bother them but that does not mean that it would not bother another person. So, this may be one area where it really depends upon how you will perceive and live with the vibration because it is definitely there - sometimes worse than other times. As stated previously, we have stayed in an aft suite on Voyager and it didn't bother us but we would not stay in an aft suite on Navigator.
