Other question a have is about Vatican tours . I know been asked already so many times, but please help me.

I was looking for "Vatican by train" tour with guide but now its not available and only audio tour can be purchased for this day (at lease that what they answer me from Vatican LOL) Here is description of tour

AS you can see St.Peters not included and I have no idea how can we see it :( If I am not booking any tour what tickets I should buy to visit Vatican and where to start(museum, gardens, Sistine?)to avoid big lines?

The tour you posted is quite a lengthy day and includes places beyond the normal Vatican sites -- is that what you are looking for?

On a first visit most people opt to visit two things within the Vatican -- St. Peter's (which can be accessed without charge but with a security line) and the Vatican museum (which requires tickets or a tour and includes the Sistine Chapel). Some people also opt to climb the dome of St. Peter's.

The Vatican also offers additional tours that include areas such as the Vatican Gardens or some of the archaeological excavations, or the one you list which goes to Castel Gandolfo, the Pope's summer residence (which is not part of the Vatican).

You may know all this already but I wasn't sure from your post.

I'd start by listing your "must see" places and then try to figure out whether you can do it on your own or through the Vatican or even through a private tour.

The Vatican train tours all go to Castel Gandolfo and they don't include any of the Vatican City sites (Vatican Museums/Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's basilica, etc.). If that's what you're looking for, great, but if you are expecting the usual sites the train tours are not what you want.

Regarding the other tours and tickets, you can only see the Vatican Gardens as part of a tour, you cannot wander about on your own.

The Gardens tour does include a ticket to the museums (which includes the Sistine Chapel) on your own, without a guide.

You can read about the different offerings here: http://www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en/visita-i-musei.html

That's my problem , I want to see it all but I understand its not possible :( I guess I will book a tour from Vatican just for Museum and Sestine Chapel . Do I need to stand in security line for St.Peters after excursion, or there is other line-way to go? If I book afternoon excursion ,you think it will be less crowded?

If you purchase a guided tour (not just a ticket), that includes the Vatican museum and St Peter's, then you will skip the security for St Peters via a short-cut from the Sistine chapel.

If your tour doesn't include St. Peter's, you are technically not allowed to use the shortcut. Sometimes people get through on their own but more recently it seems the guards are more likely to stop you.

There is an exit (short-cut) from the Sistine Chapel (far right corner of the chapel) that leads to the basilica without the need to queue at the main security line in St. Peter's square. Tour groups are permitted to utilize this exit - I would check with the tour provider to be certain that you will be allowed to use this short-cut.

FYI - we have twice used the short-cut even without a tour - we just joined a tour group that was exiting.

We rented an apartment in Campo dei Fiori last year, and had an early entrance tour of the Vatican. There is a taxi stop at Piazza Navona that is only about a 5 minute walk (our apartment was on Via dei Cappellari). At that hour it took no more than 10 minutes to get to the Vatican.

I highly recommend an early entrance tour. Our experience was greatly enhanced by touring in a very small group with a knowledgeable guide. We saw a lot before it got too crowded.

To answer your original quaery what you have booked will take you through the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel (from 0800 to 0900) before being escorted on foot through the Vatican Gardens to the train station within the grounds of the Vtaican Gardens.

(8.00 Special skip the line entryand open visit – with a special multilingual audioguide – to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.

10.00 Transfer on foot through the Vatican Gardens with special multilingual audioguide and departure from the Vatican City railway station, by special electric train, destined for Castel Gandolfo.)

So you automatically see Vatican Musems & Sistine chapel, plus a quick walk through the Vtaican gardens .

So the only thing you do not see is St Peters . Admission is free just bowl up any other time . Admissions times on Vtiac website .

From Campo de Fiori it is 30 minutes walk to Castel de St Angelo and St Peters basilica. Entry to the Vatican museum is off a side street off the right hand side of the big piazza in front of St Peters . Just take a taxi from your hotel to the emtrance of the Vatican Museums . Allow 30 mins minimum to get there by taxi .

It is also walkable to the Vatican from Campo di Fiori or there is a public bus that goes there as well. Check Rome2rio for routing andtimes.

There are much better and more accurate resources than Rome2Rio, which is nothing more than a good start in most cases.

For Rome the best resource is the bus company itself, http://www.atac.roma.it.

I think we will walk in morning and probably take taxi on way back. thank you.

Sounds like a good plan, you can walk along the river if you wish. When you are tired a cab ride back will be good. It was quite an experience walking into Vatican square and seeing the pope.
