Freedom of the Seas Solarium Pool

This will be my first cruise on FOS.

 

Is the Solarium Pool a covered pool?

 

Can you walk down steps into the pool or is via a ladder only?

 

We've been on Celebrity Solarium Pool and it has steps into the pool and is a covered pool

No, it's not "covered", thank goodness! And yes...there are steps!

As mentioned, no covering over the pool and first couple rows of chairs. The chairs a few rows back are covered as are the hot tubs that hang over the side. There is a large set of steps at one end of the pool and ladders on the side as well.

Not covered and it has padded lounge chairs. Nice wide steps into the pool. Great that is not covered.

The Freedom of the Seas no longer has padded loungers at the Solarium. There are still some chairs at the tables with a pad in the chair, but they don't have pads in every chair anymore either.

We have been on the Freedom for the last 8 days, about to get off.

Sadly the solarium on RCCL pales in comparison to Celebrity's solarium, which is quiet and lovely!

 

On RCCL it is a "pass through", which means a lot more people and noise.

As others have said, yes to stairs and no to being covered. Having said that though, the solarium is a lot more sheltered than the main pool area so if it’s very windy, a little cool, or a bit rainy, you can stay reasonably warm and dry at your chair!

 

There are also these areas forward of the solarium with regular chairs and benches (cushioned) which can be accessed both from the gym and the solarium through doors. They’re very quiet and a lovely place to watch the sunset!

There is also a deeper section of the solarium pool that is separated from the main pool by a "bar" with seats on both sides. There are no stairs into the deeper section, just a ladder. I think it is close to 7 feet deep.
