rexy69 Posted February 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2018 I called Carnival to ask what the penalty would be if I had to cancel our upcoming cruise. We're 21 days out. Penalty would be $844.50. How do they calculate what you get refunded and what you have to pay?

Nic6318 Posted February 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Hi Here is the link from the Carnival site showing the amounts that will be withheld. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3401/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNTE4OTcyNTkwL3NpZC9mVVhxV0dQR2I2Q3AwMFQzY2hNMktYZ3pUdFY3QXE0eF9LJTdFVnlmUGFqQVhxUWFTN3JUY0RDWnZFUEswblFuNkJDMTB3ZGpHYzZQQVl6RVhGQm1ZSW5sSUpOTSU3RVdHR2Vlc09xbWlXdTBhbzFtaGM3Q3gwdnliVnBnJTIxJTIx It looks like in your case it will be 75% of the total fare. hope this helps
summersigh Posted February 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2018 We had to cancel - medical - in December 4 days before we sailed. We were booked Early Saver. We had the Carnival Insurance. We got everything back except the cost of the insurance so we spent $200 to get back $2,
Rare 1025cruise Posted February 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2018 If you need to cancel, do so quickly before you lose everything. Unless of course, you have insurance....

But that was a medical reason, so I'm sure you had to produce documents from the Dr, to prove it......but this wouldn't be medical, so we probably will just get a future cruise credit. (I also purchased the vacation protection)

(I also purchased the vacation protection) Not that this helps you right now, but in the future...We purchased trip insurance that covers trip cancellation for any reason. It’s a bit more expensive but worth it in my opinion for peace of mind.
klfrodo Posted February 18, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2018 . (I also purchased the vacation protection) If this is the Carnival Vacation Protection and your reason for cancellation is not a “covered” reason, then Yes, you will need to invoke the Cancel For Any Reason coverage. You have until 48 hours prior to departure. You will receive a 75% future cruise credit.
