63galaxie Posted February 24, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2018 The port at Falmouth is a nice, clean developed area with indoor shops, and a few outdoor kiosks including a stand that sells patties. They are pretty good. We took a walking tour with two licensed guides which took us through the streets and neighborhoods. There were a lot of sketchy people yelling at us, trying to sell drugs, but the guides kept them at bay. I would not recommend going outside the gates unescorted. Buy those patties inside the newer compound. There’s a nice indoor coffee shop (free samples). Sent from my iPhone using Forums

dd likes to cruise Posted February 25, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Serious question here. Is there something real special about them that makes you want to get them? Haven’t seen this mentioned before. Price sounds good.

You know...stuff like that;p
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 26, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2018 There is a place in Falmouth, in town called Juci Patties thats supposed to be the "best in town" ... Then again, Peppers Jerk Center is supposedly the "best jerk chicken" in town, which I found to be the least authentic jerk chicken ever... My game plan for Falmouth (if I ever happen to cruise there again) is to just stay on the ship.

I think if I feel like going for a walk, I will try out Juici Patties which does get good reviews on TripAdvisor and offers cornmeal porridge as well. If Bob Marley mentions it in a song, I gotta try it. :D:D:D;p;p;p
buffy24 Posted February 27, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2018 We booked a Jamaica Culinary Tour with Janet Crick. It was really a food/walking tour. We tried several foods, including a wonderful beef patty. Everything was great and it was cool to learn some of the history of the area. We had two guides with us and no one really bothered us at all. We very much enjoyed our time there.

Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 27, 2018 Just an FYI. The walk to Peppers goes right through town, which was pretty sketchy. The direction of Juici Patties looked even worse. There were pretty good patties for sale inside the port, and there were a few different types. Thanks for the info about Peppers. I was thinking about venturing there as well. Now I won't. LLRS1 Posted February 28, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 28, 2018 Those patties that you buy at the stall right in the port area are so delicious that I look forward to them every time we go there. I usually get one first thing in the morning when we get off the ship, then I have to have another right before leaving in the afternoon. I highly recommend them.
