Rare VMax1700 Posted March 10, 2018 #26 Share Posted March 10, 2018 We had an Indonesian Lunch last week on the Koningsdam. It seems we had booked a 'Collector cruise' so we were invited to a special Indonesian lunch. The menu was: Gado Gado - green salad topped with tofu, steamed green beans and hard boiled eggs, tossed in a creamy peanut dressing. Soto Ayam - Lemongrass and lime leaf flavored Indonesian chicken soup with glass noodles, finished with a hint of coconut milk. Indonesian Rijsttafel - a traditional Indonesian style lunch consisting of oven-baked Indonesian spice rubbed chicken leg, beef Sumatra, satay, chopped omelet, shrimp in spicy sauce and Indonesian fried rice served with pickles and scallions (all served on one plate) Hidangan Penutup Dessert - Rice pudding with brown sugar sauce. The whole meal was delightfull. (only spoiled by Beverage staff going round trying to sell mimosas :loudcry:)
caribbeanboy Posted March 10, 2018 #27 Share Posted March 10, 2018 You can also get it at Zuikertuin Mall at a place called Sambal here in Curacao. You will have to order the dishes separately though. Excellent food.

Excellent food. Thank you very much for the name of this restaurant - it was the one I had read about too in other traveler's reviews, but it is a taxi ride away from the cruise port. Hope you will walk us through some of the menu items, they look great: https://www.facebook.com/sambalcuracao/menu/

Used to get a nice canvas tote, usually a coctail reception, and luncheon. Occasionally there would be a special lunch if several staterooms were staying on as B2B. I think they forget how much these little touches mean to people.
OlsSalt Posted March 11, 2018 #30 Share Posted March 11, 2018 For the Sambal menu prices - currently one ANG equals US 0.56, so the menu prices are approximately half that amount in US dollars.
