How many of us were told?

Recommended Posts

How many of us were told (several years ago) that when we got to 25 cruises, we would get a 25% discount, 50 cruises would be a 50% discount and 100 cruises would be a 100% discount (one time only) I thought if you did 100, you should get free cruises for life....I am doing my 25th cruise next January but when my travel agent asked Carnival about it, they told her they had never heard of this before..... Sound familiar with all the other cutbacks?

It is based on the number of paid cruises. If you got a free cruise, the free cruise does not count on the number of paid cruises taken.

I don't recall seeing that after 100 cruises that all cruise after that are free.

Our June cruise will mark my 9th Carnival cruise (14th overall cruise), and I will have 63 nights with Carnival. I'm a long way from any sort of reward! My wife, however, will make Platinum as it will be here 11th Carnival cruise.

OP you just need 12 more sea days to reach Platinum and the perks that come with that level!!

The program has changed from # of cruises to # of sea days. Platinum is now reached after 75 sea days (no longer after 10 cruises).....which to us is fairer. It evens out the 'playing field'. Used to be that one could cruise ten 3-day cruises (33 sea days) and be Platinum.....now, you can still cruise 3-4 cruises, but you need 75 sea days and it would take 19 cruises sailing 4 day cruises to reach the needed 75 sea days.

She will turn Platinum because all of our cruises have been 7 days, so, at the end of the cruise, she will have 77 sea days. Under Carnival's rules, she will be granted Platinum benefits from the beginning of the voyage.

I don't remember it being 25% off ever for your 25th cruise.

The program is called milestone and you will be eligible for a 25% of cruise fare in an onboard credit which will be added to your sail and sign account. Please remember it is only 25% for the person who is hitting there 25th cruise so if the cruise is 1000pp you would only receive a $250.00 credit not $500.00. I hope this clears this up for the OP.Tom

Yep, but they changed the program after we were told it was for the # of cruises.

The perks you get do not go by what the program was when you began cruising. It goes by what it is now. A number of years ago they changed the VIFP program from # of cruises to # of days for the reasons previously stated. I don't recall if those who were in the higher levels got grandfathered in or switched to the level they would be under the new program. However, those of us in the lower levels were simply switched to whatever level we would be on based on number of nights cruised. I went from Blue, to Gold, to Red and now Gold again. :) The cards for the two golds are at least different shades of gold!

It's 25% of your fare cost in OBC for your milestone. It can be applied on a cruise after the 25th. Same for the 50th, etc.

I've been cruising Carnival since the 90's and I don't ever remember those being the rules for either Milestone or VIFP benefits. Milestone benefits have always been granted as shipboard credit (and not a discount). VIFP rules changed a few years ago from being based on number of cruises completed to being based on how many nights are sailed.

We were told the same thing in 1995. Didn't realize it was OBC until your posting.

Just had my 25th cruise (milestone-white card) received 25%of my fare as OBC.[/quote

So you can get the obc on the 25th cruise?

Yes, I did! but you don’t need to use it if you have a more expensive cruise planned at a later time.

Regarding the 25% obc, is that 25% of the fare of the 25th cruise itself or 25% obc based on the fare of a future cruise?

Dream in Nov 2018 will be my Milestone cruise. Let's say my portion is $1,000. I want to save my 25% certificate for later, say a Hawaii cruise on Legend and my portion is $2,500. I save the 25% for Hawaii. Do I get the $250 obc from Dream or do I get $625 obc from Legend on the Hawaiian cruise? I can't find an answer to this on the Carnival site.

Thanks.

25% of the base fare on cruise you chose to use it on.. We waited until we had the opportunity to do an Hawaiian cruise for my 25% and a 14 day relocation cruise for DW

My 25th was on the Vista inaugural (May 2016). I didn't use it as I was sailing in a cabin for 4 people.

I received a letter with a Milestone code on it about 6 weeks prior to that sailing but I didn't redeem it then.

I'm on the Horizon TA in May and am sailing solo so I'm using my credit on that one. Of course, if you plan on continuing to sail Carnival, you should "save" it for a more-expensive sailing.

Milestone program has been around for a while and as far as I know, there have been no major changes.

Phone number directly is 877-225-8477.

It is completely separate from the VIFP program. You could take 25 3-night cruises and qualify on the same day you turn Platinum (but no one takes only 3-night cruises once they're addicted. They just take longer, and longer ones!)

Exactly what we did. 25th Cruise was a short one. Used the Milestone for Hawaii, using DH’s for Alaska. The credit can be stacked with other OBC.

Call the Milestone Desk for the OBC. It won’t show up on your paperwork until two days before sailing.
