Did a price check for a Caribbean cruise Feb. 2019. Priced it 55+then VIFP and then reg. price and it was the same at $919. What is the benefit of using VIFP or 55+ Also curious if there are any savings on the cruises for a B2B? Thank you.

Any OBC ..... We found that prices don't change much but it did add an extra $50 in OBC for our Horizon cruise ......

My VIFB (Platinum) e-mail promotions use a reduced deposit of $50 or $50 OBC carrot.

I inquired about cancelling before the non-cancellation date and was told I only lose half of the deposit (in this case $25) and if I cruise within 2 years the half they keep is applied to that cruise. Makes planning a cruise far ahead not such a bad idea. Includes price protection also.

I usually book under the casino rate which is a little cheaper than early saver and offers some casino cash. If that is not available I book under early saver. I have never seen any of the VIFP offers that are decent.

I actually did book one cruise under the state rate. This was about 10 years ago and when I put Illinois into the state field, it came up cheaper than all the other options. That was the only time I ever saw the state make a difference.

For one of our cruises, the Military rate was cheaper and my brother and sister in law got the same rate because they were cruising with us. I don't remember how many cabins we could have gotten under that rate but they all fell under my military status. I haven't seen that rate in quite a while though.

If both of us have the casino offer will we both get the casino cash?

Every once in a while, you will have something listed under "My special offers" for your VIFP number. Currenly, DH has a special offer, while I do not. If I wasn't logged in under his number, I wouldn't know we could get the cruise I'm currently viewing at about $100 cheaper. These offers are intermittent and hit and miss. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to them. These are different than the "2-category upgrade" offer that seems to always be listed for anyone with a VIFP number. Last fall, my mom had a special offer, and neither DH nor I did. Then later I had one, and neither of them did.

As for the senior discounts or the resident rates, they come and go depending on how well a particular cruise is selling. We've price matched to senior rates a number of times in the past when we were booked under Early Saver.

I'm not aware of any discounts for back-to-back cruises. I wish there were!

I think they are all the same (or very similar) because Carnival prices themselves about as low as they can to attract business. Then everything costs extra.

NCL is a bit higher, but you can usually get their beverage package thrown in (just pay gratuities).

Royal is higher than NCL, but they tend to cater to a slightly older crowd and offer somewhat more personalized service.

It all depends on what you want or need and what you are willing to pay for.

Were you able to keep the cabin you selected when you matched the senior rate?

Yes, the senior rates we've seen in the past was not limited to guarantee category, so we were able to keep our same cabin.

In my experience, senior rates have typically shown up very close to sail date, or at least after final payment due date. I imagine it is capacity controlled, and they are trying to fill up unsold cabins close to sail date.
