Nann Posted March 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2018 I have a few questions regarding the classic drink package and best side of ship to be on. If you we have the classic beverage package, and want a drink that isn't covered can we just pay the difference? What is the best side of the ship to be on? Even or odd numbers? NantahalaCruiser Posted March 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2018 With the Classic, it the price of your drink exceeds $9, for example $11, then you will pay the difference plus 18% gratuity - ($11 - $9) x 1.18 = $2.36. Generally your choice of port or starboard is immaterial - unless there is something special about your itinerary. For example, on an April east-bound Transatlantic cruise, many would choose a starboard (right-side) cabin in order to be on the southern side and receive more sun on their balcony. Luvcrusn Posted March 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2018 Side of the ship is irrelevant if cruising the Caribbean. The only time it really made a difference for us was on a repositioning cruise from Port Everglades through the Panama Canal and down the west coast of South America ending in Valparaiso, Chile. In that case, we chose the port side and were glad we did for the land views. Also, smoking areas are generally on the port side, so depending on your deck/cabin location you may want to take that into consideration if your cabin is directly above or adjacent to a smoking area.
