My first blog or live cruise report for our Navigator of the Seas cruise to the ABC islands

Recommended Posts

Do they advertise in the cruise compass what the theme for dinner is in the windjammer each night? We really enjoyed some of the theme nights on Independence but we never knew ahead of time what to expect.
I commented on the post cruise survey in early March how helpful it was having the Windjammer theme in the compass. Wish every ship did this

Day 8

Today is day one of our two sea days to get home. I was up early…Grabbed my coffee and got a chair in the solarium. I was the first arrival but was soon joined by a few others. Then the chair hogs came out! By 0730 there wasn’t a chair in the solarium with out a towel or someone in it. But then two pool attendants showed up and folded every towel that wasn’t being sat on by a person. If the towel had clips holding them…They were removed and attached to the folded towel. It didn’t matter if someone was sitting on one and trying to hold any others next to them. The pool attendants were very nice and simply stated that they understood that the persons would be right back but the folding started the 30 minuet timer. I believe that Royal Caribbean needs to do this on all their ships…I even took a picture of one of the attendants.

It took them over 30 minuets to fold all the towels in the Solarium…Then they picked up arm loads of towels, books and bags of guest who hadn’t returned. They were removed to the towel station. It’s quite funny when more chair hogs would show up…See all the open seats and more towels were put out. In about an hour, the attendants were back and folding towels. Quite a few people came back to find someone sitting in their chair…Asked why there stuff was removed…Some People were just plain nasty. However, almost everyone sitting in a chair thanked the pool attendants. [emoji106]

We made the 1400 ice dancing show today and it was really good. We got their early to make sure we got a seat but there was plenty of open seats after the show started. I’m always amazed at the things they can do on that little rink. We played our first Bingo…It was the one to win a cruise. We always play to when the cruise…It is possible to win…Our group has won two 7 day cruises before. But we couldn’t win our 3rd this time. Tonight was our second formal night and also lobster night🤪

Our waiter Doogie takes my order and I order 2 shrimp cocktails and jokingly said 6 lobster tails. Well Doogie brought me 3 and before I could finish one…He bought me the other 3. I guess made a pig out of myself but…Dang they were good. Once again we’re off to the Headliner Show. Tonight it was Travis Ledoye or Mr Elvis 🕺. His singing was good but his mannerisms and people’s interactions was pure Elvis. He worked most of the theater and put on a great show…Of course the ladies loved it when he sang to them.

We love the Quest Game Show and will always stay up late to see it. But the really good Quest shows are because of the Cruise Director and ours failed to hit the mark. I had a feeling it wouldn’t when our CD announced at the Elvis show that children are welcome to attend the Quest. Most other Quest shows we’ve been to ask that children not attend. The items and tasks the teams were asked to perform by the CD was very tame. After the show Barb and I hit the rack. Got one more day and then it’s back to work…I really need another vacation to rest up from this one[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Are they charging corkage in the MDR/specialty or are they forgetting to do this? Thanks.

What a great review.

My son is getting married on this ship in April 2019. He met his fiancé on same ship. They’re planning to have their ceremony in cosmopolitan lounge where they met - it will be 5 years to the date. If you are up there and want to snap some pics I can show them. It will help her get a visual for planning. So far we have 40 guests booked.

This will be our 15 th cruise but first to these islands. 3 Dr time on Navigator and she’ll be right out of dry dock.

Enjoy your last day.

Day 9

Our last day! I was once again up early with my coffee and at the Solarium waiting on the sunrise. Barb joined me about 0600 and we stayed till around around noon. While we were there we had to unfortunately witnessed a guy being a jerk. The two pool attendants were once again doing their job and were folding the towels on two chairs next to me. Some dude 5 chairs down starts screaming at them to stop talking people’s S#$t. That he paid good money for this cruise not have his stuff taken. I told him they were just doing their job and all they were doing was folding the towels to start the 30 minuets time. He ignored me and several people in the hot tub next to us and continued to yell and cuss at the attendants. I told the attendants and him that the chairs next to me had not been occupied In hours and the attendants needed to call security.

We did lunch in the MDR…We had heard they do a great lunch on sea days and let me tell you they really do. They had a salad bar area where the chefs took the ingredients you selected and made your salad. They also had a section with pans of different items…One was filled with lobster tails. The last section was a stir fry station…Which is always my favorite. Of course you could also just order off the lunch menu. It’s a shame I waited to the last sea day to try the lunch[emoji35]

Barb and I went back to our room to start the dreaded packing. I think the hardest part for Barb is deciding on what to wear our last night and what to wear home…I’m good with shorts and a tee. We got everything all most packed and headed down to the Casino for a drink or two plus we still needed to donate to our favorite cruise line[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Our friend Ms Debbie took a $1,000 bucks off a slot machine last night…We never get that lucky. Back to our room to get ready for dinner…We have reservations at Giovanni’s for 1800 Hrs.

Before dinner we once again headed to the Diamond Lounge and to give our thanks to Kendall Sharp and Christopher Santiago…Two Fantastic Bartenders. I had a steak in Giovanni’s…They claimed it was better than Chops steak. It was good…Just as good as Chops but the flavor was different. I can’t tell you one was better than the other…I enjoyed them both. After dinner we went back to our room to finish packing and sit our suitcases outside the door.

Barb and I have a system to keep track of our gambling. We only put a $20 bill in a machine at a time and we cash it out before it’s gone…Even if it’s only a 6 cents ticket. Every night we put our tickets in the safe till the last night…Count the tickets and multiple by 20 and we know how much we spent. After we cash in our tickets we find out if made money or donated…We donated this time the show tonight was a comedian named Heath Harmison but we decided not to attend and went to bed after cashing out of the Casino. Tomorrow will be a loooog day!

We had luggage tags 6 and were scheduled to get off the ship at 0800…Ya right. I was woken up by what sounded like a race car outside my balcony about 0430. I jump up and my balcony to see it just the pilot boat delivering our pilot. Not sure what was up with the pilot boat but it was the loudest boat I’ve ever heard. We went and grabbed some coffee around 0600 and went back to our room. Grabbed our stuff and as we were leaving our room…Our room Attendant was outside. Gunawan, Igusti Putu or as we called him Gus was excellent. Told him our needs day one and never needed to ask for anything else…Our ice bucket was always full and we had a towel animal every single night. Most cruises we only get the towel animals a few nights.

We headed to Studio B…The designated Crown and Anchor waiting area and sat and sat and sat! I wanted to see what was taking so long so I got up and climbed one flight of stairs from the picture area to deck 4. I stopped because off all the people standing around waiting to get off. It seems like every cruise more and more people elect to self depart…The lines were huge and the temps were hot! I stood on the top of the stairs and watched the free show…Got to see the man screaming and jumping up and down…The woman crying and making hand jesters…The man dropping three bags and tell his wife to please do what ever she wanted cause he was done. I decided to go back down stairs and be thankful I had Barb.

We finally had our number called about 0915…Just a little late. They had the exit line going through the MDR and when got to the exit a Royal Caribbean lady asked us for our number. When we replied 6 she informed us our number hasn’t been called and we told that’s not what we told in Studio B. She told us we had received bad information and to wait there while she talked to Studio B…Yaa right! Out the door we went and made it down to the luggage receiving area.

This is has got to be the crazy way to find your luggage ever. I’m use to areas set aside divided by tag numbers…You walk to you tag area and find your bag. Nope not Miami! 6 or 7 tags are combined on an airport luggage type conveyor. Barb stands and one section and me at another…Watching the bags slowly pass by and waiting on ours. Barb gets lucky and grabs my suit bag…Only got two more to find! We wait and watch all go by a swear a couple of times. I head over to the next room with it’s own conveyor and tag numbers and immediately find one of my bags. Our last bag was also located on this wrong conveyor…Waisted a good half an hour just finding our luggage. Zipped right through customs and our porter delivered our bags to the bottom of the parking garage. On the road a little after 1000 Hrs.

The Greatoz got us to Valdosta safe and sound and we stopped by our sons house to spend a few minutes with them before driving home. It was a very long day for us but we got home after 2200 Hrs or after 12 hours on the road. The Unpacking will have to wait till tomorrow.

Our cruise is over but we have two more booked and I don’t think I’ll be doing a live review or blog on them! I hope you’ve enjoyed my ramblings and we appreciate all your comments. I’ve tried to answer all questions but I’m happy to answer any more…Just ask. We are still planning on scanning all the cruise planners and I will post a link to their location on here when I get them done.

Thanks for doing this live blog on your cruise...I followed along each and every day as we will be flying out on Thursday and boarding her this Friday! We are almost packed and ready to go. Sounds like debarkation was a nightmare, we'll be heading home this time the day after the cruise so I guess we'll just take our time before getting off the ship at the end of the cruise trying to avoid the craziness you encountered. Thanks again for the great review that you took the time to do. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
