Rare Saint Greg Posted April 10, 2018 #26 Share Posted April 10, 2018 Happened to us on Conquest and Spirit class. Popular comedians will fill up the venue quickly. Saw standing room only on freedom a couple times. But never a line of people left outside like I did on elation.

mara93 Posted April 10, 2018 #28 Share Posted April 10, 2018 I know the Splendor is a class in and of itself but two weeks ago we frequented the Punchliner every night and never had a line or lack of available seating.... We'll be on Splendor in June & the comedy club is our favorite activity! Glad to hear the good news.
Drazil65 Posted April 10, 2018 #29 Share Posted April 10, 2018 The Magic has one of the bigger comedy clubs and we enjoyed several shows last week on a full spring break cruise. We did the PG and adult shows and arrived about 30 mins ahead in most cases, some times 20 mins ahead, always got a seat (although the front seats do fill up faster). You can hear anywhere in the Magic comedy club so it works well for that type of show. There were some of the bigger music based shows going on at same time in big theater, makes sense that the more generally attended bigger shows would be in the bigger venues. MarriedInStThomas1807 Posted April 10, 2018 #30 Share Posted April 10, 2018 We were on the Magic last year and the line for each comedy show was almost back to the casino!! I couldn’t believe it. I never want to go on a big ship like that again. The lines for the coffee shop during a sea day we’re about the same. Awful. Not my cup of tea. SeaScout Posted April 10, 2018 #31 Share Posted April 10, 2018 Why can't we just have the Comedy Show in the multiple-level, Theater/Auditorium??? That's such an easy fix. Because the drink revenue / ROI is better in the lounge. To earn the same revenue in the bigger theater, they would have to hire more waiters thus decreasing the profits.. It's a business 101.
riclop Posted April 11, 2018 #32 Share Posted April 11, 2018 So, when I was on the Sunshine, to watch a Comedy Show, you had to wait in a line for 30-45 minutes to sit in the back. And half the time you couldn't even see the comedian! Now I hear that during my planned summer cruise on the Magic, it's going to be the same thing. Why can't we just have the Comedy Show in the multiple-level, Theater/Auditorium??? That's such an easy fix. Totally agree.
IPlayWithString Posted April 11, 2018 #33 Share Posted April 11, 2018 I've done July, September, and March. I've had to be in the standing room portion which is at the bar in front of the bar at times. They would clear everyone out after the first comedy show and make you get in the back of the line for the next comedy show. By the time I got back in all that was left was the standing room in front of the bar. That's the only thing that really bothers me about clearing the room after a show is over. I mean, I GET why they do it but it still bugs me because I'd rather be seated as close to the front as possible since I have hearing issues and it helps for me to be able to see the performer's mouth so I can read their lips and half way understand what's going on. I'm not deaf (not yet anyway) but most of the time when I'm watching TV, I use the captions so I can understand what's being said.

Back then the shows were like 30mins apart. Now every cruise I go on the next show is usually an hour away and everyone leaves on their own after the first show. I don’t know if that’s a fleetwide change or if it depends on the ship.

When we were on Glory in November the comedy show host told us it was being tested on several ships. They used the same procedure on Pride in February. I like the way that works so I wouldn't mind if they made it a fleet wide thing.
CaneDawg Posted April 11, 2018 #36 Share Posted April 11, 2018 The only comedy show I got to see on the sunshine is when they moved it to the main stage lounge because nothing else was going on. It filled completely up. The only positive layout wise on that ship is the serenity area.

It's clear than when they turned Desinty into Sunshine they made the real comedy club into additional staterooms and turned the smaller bar on deck 4 that nobody uses into a comedy club. On fantasy they cut the comedy club in half and built a kids club. I remember one of the rumors when they were remodeling Elation was they were going to turn the comedy club into staterooms and have comedy in the nightclub. That would've been a huge mistake. Now on Vista class there isn't even a bar in the comedy club. I think Dream class has the best model for the comedy clubs.

On Vista they have greatly shrunk main showroom and comedy club lounge in favor of additional cabins or money making areas. Going to comedy club and watching comedian on a monitor is not my idea of a night out.
