Rare VMax1700 Posted April 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2018 What is difference in first and second class train tickets going from Amsterdam airport to Central train station how would I purchase them. TIA Do you mean the difference in price or the difference in standard of service? The trip is only 15/20 minutes. We always take second class from the airport to Amsterdam Centraal and stay with our suitcases. There is no need to splash out on first class on such a short journey, in our opinion. You can purchase tickets in the Main Hall at Amsterdam airport (the train station is under the airport), either at machines which take credit cards or at the ticket office, which charges a little extra and is also located in the airport
Ine Posted April 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Just a more space and wider seats in general., but far more 2nd class seats are offered then 1st class. As mentioned it is s short ride. Might be worth it during rushhours when trains can be rather crowded.
wendyp247 Posted April 11, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Thanks it will be on Kings Day mid morning. I didn’t know we’d be arriving on Kings Day when we booked the flight.
Ine Posted April 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2018 Thanks it will be on Kings Day mid morning. I didn’t know we’d be arriving on Kings Day when we booked the flight. Not a nice day to arrive. Trains going into town might be very busy till late morning. Apart from that public transportation within city center will be almost impossible. Depending where your hotel is, maybe bus 397 from the airport to Leidseplein is another option. Or of course a cab or Uber.

GrJ Berkshire Posted April 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Difference will be lots of Euro, no need to pay for 1st class on this 15 min journey. In view of the holiday date, I would book a cab from schipol to your hotel, so much easier with luggage, and not much more than 1st rail.
FreestyleNovice Posted April 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2018 Book a cab or take one from the line at Schiphol, the trains will be (over)crowded. Lots of youth, packed with beer, yelling and shouting.. One of the few days to strongly disadvice the train. :)
