Gratuity S&S Card

I sailed with Carnival 2 times in the last 6 mths and gratuities were added to my account on the last full day of the trip. If you have money on your S&S card it will be deducted from there first and then any remaining balance needed will be charged to you.

On Royal Caribbean, the gratuities were posted daily to my account and deducted from any monies available & then any leftover gratuity balance changed to my assigned CC.

If we have money left on our S&S card can we put that towards gratuities?

I have been adding cruise cash to my account to offset the cost so just curious.

Certainly you can add cash to offset your expenses (including gratuities).

But, as stated, deposits can not be directed towards any particular expense.

It's a fluid pot of $$ and expenses are just removed from the contents of the pot.

I'll give a slightly different answer in case you are asking a slightly different question:

If you have money left on your S&S card - such as Cruise Cash, OBC, GC, or cash - after paying all charges (including the daily service charge/gratuity), and you would like to extend an additional gratuity to your room steward then you can go to guest services and have them apply it. This only worked for us for our room steward, dining staff even (if we knew their name) had to be paid in cash as guest services could not apply an extra gratuity to them.

Hope that helps:)

Know that cruise cash is non-refundable. "Use it or lose it."

Our gratuities have been deducted from our S&S account on the fifth day on some cruises or sixth day on other cruises on our seven-day sailings.

I'm interpreting your question differently. You say you've been putting money on your account. I booked our cruise online and there was a place that said "pre-paid gratuities". I chose that and just paid for it ahead of time before I got on the cruise. I purchased Carnival gift cards at the 10% discount so that saved me money.

But maybe I didn't understand your question.

So let’s say I pre loaded $200 to my S&S account online and I have $100 left over on the last day. Will that amount go towards the gratuities?
Yes. Say you put down $200 and spent $100. When the grat charge hits your account it will subtract it from the available funds. If you owe more money it will be charged to card on file or you will need to add more money to your account. If you still have money left you will need to go to casino and do "casino trick" to get any extra money as cruise cash is non refundable.
