Priority luggage...NOT

Recommended Posts

Did I bring it forward in a thread what I read on a FB thread? yes. Did it take on a life of its own? yes Did John address it about 20 times saying it was not true? yes Did it turn out to not true? yes At the end of day, is it still in force? yes The things you call"facts" were in fact one persons "version" "were told..." . We have discussed it to death, if I posted pics proving it to be false the "conspiracy " theory would continue....just like area 51and Elvis is still alive and selling gas at a Tn gas station. Until proven wrong, I will stick with what John says and believe him, your opinion may vary.
You see, you’re willing to alter the facts to push John’s narrative. Carnival thanks you for your compliance. It wasn’t just ONE person who said it happened. It was multiple P/D’s across multiple ships. Not to mention the ones who heard it from Carnival customer service reps. It’s funny how P/D’s are placed on such a high pedestal any other time, but for this, they’re made out to be looney toons. Of course John said it wasn’t true, he toes the company line and says what they want him to say. but the evidence said something else. He’s lied about things in the past, your own friends here will attest to that, so what makes you think this can’t possibly be one of them?

JH likes to toss insults at the very people who cruise on the cruise line he works for. The ones who help keep him in a job. His favorite target are the Carnival cruisers on CC. Shoot, if it wasn’t for this board, he wouldn’t have as much content for his previous fb page. If you want to defend him tooth and nail, that’s your prerogative, but I see the guy for who he really is.

Did I defend him tooth and nail? No he was right whether you like it or not. I give up. Happy sailing.

So does that make us the 3 Musketeers the 3 Amigos, or the 3 Stooges?

Lol, all depends who you ask. We all need to sail together...... sooner rather than later.

I think my DW would volunteer me as a Stooge..... not that I can vehemently disagree with that, you understand. :D

Which one? I would definitely be Moe. I like to be in charge just in case you couldn’t tell 🤣.

Go ahead and join me on the Edge in January. It’s gonna be awesome I have a feeling.

Have to agree with those that have been around for a while....we just printed our luggage tags (we are Plat) and only the "Priority" in the red arrow appears - NO "FTTF" logo! Can easily see what is going on (in addition to the comments from various crew that has been posted here indicating 'early' luggage delivery is only for the PAID FTTF pax)..... CCL is phasing out the P/D's from this 'perk' for sure. That is fairly obvious to us! Bottom line is CCL's "bottom line" and they found a source of revenue from 'paid FTTF' pax and there are too many P/D's now! Plus, CCL has seriously cut back on staff and have FEWER stewards handling MORE cabins which makes this perk for "ALL" (FTTF, P/D's) very difficult for the stewards to 'hit the mark'. We have already spread our 'wings' and have ventured out to other lines.....may be a thought for everyone else too?

On our Miracle cruise (3/24) we were on the shuttle from the hotel with another couple. They had FTTF, we are Platinum. We got off the shuttle and handed our luggage to the porter. He looked at our luggage tags, one with Priority and one with the FTTF logo, ripped a couple of strips of PRIORITY tape off the roll in his hand, and put pieces on both of our luggage handles. Same tape on both.

So, has something changed since then?

I guess I might be Larry - not a total doofus and I have about as much hair as he does (just not long and frizzy)! :o

We already have our one and only 2019 cruise booked so we wouldn't be able to join but thank you for the great idea. Maybe, as Jimbo suggested, some day sooner rather than later we can make it happen.... before I'm too old cruise any more!

Hahahaha!! I don’t know when it will be possible. I have a big trip planned already for later this year in lieu of my annual fall cruise and possibly a short little stay somewhere this summer so I don’t see one in my future besides January. Surely you can go more than once in all of 2019!

I wish I could but in order to keep peace under our roof, I have to be judicious with our cruise planning. Next up is Panama Canal, hopefully in 2020! Oh.... and don't call me "Shirley" (shades of the movie "Airplane").

Its been stated only 30 cabins total for FTTF depending on how many plats and diamonds are boarding.

(Really any more would defeat the purpose of waiting)

I hate to debunk this, but on the FB page of my up coming cruise, there are more than 50 cabins with FTTF. A poll was done because someone also stated they only sell 50 FTTF cabins total, our cruise was up to 55 the last time I checked.

I cannot believe people are paying almost $90 for this perk.

You realize that 55 cabins at $90 is less than $5000? Carnival is not making a killing on FTTF. It's ludicrous that they're exasperating P&Ds over $5000 worth of FTTF.

Can you believe that people pay several hundred dollars for Cheers? Can you believe people pay to play in the casino, sometimes hundreds or thousands of dollars? What about those who pay to eat in the specialty restaurants? There's all kinds of things on board a cruise ship that costs extra. Different people find value in all sorts of different things. Imagine that.

Sixteen out of my first twenty cruises were on Carnival, dating back to 1986 on the Jubilee. But only two out of my past eleven have been on Carnival. So obviously my wings spread years ago. All inclusive packages on Celebrity, NCL and MSC has promoted me to see if there are greener pastures out there and to a certain degree there are. Because of how much we enjoyed the Vibe Club on the Escape, we knew we would enjoy the Havana area that much better and that was the impetus to book our upcoming two summer cruises this year and next on the Horizon, The 10% savings by redeeming AARP and Allstate cards, combined with paying the cruises off before the 2018 increase in Cheers made the Cheers program more palatable.

At this point besides the two on the Horizon, we have the Bliss and the Edge already lined up and other choices in the pipeline will include the Leonardo Project from NCL, the World Class ships from MSC, the LNG ships from Carnival and possibly something from RCI and maybe Princess to Alaska. The Carnival blinders and rose colored glasses were discarded years ago and educated cruisers should discard their's, but there will always be diehards here as well as the Loyal Royals who keep all of their eggs in 1 basket and don't like to broaden their horizons. As far as I'm concerned, it's their loss.

Carnival cares more about the blue cards than they do the Platinum and Diamonds. The blue cards are those that spend money on Carnival sponsored excursions, drop money in the casino, pay for overpriced photos and spend more on average per person than the cruise veterans that have been there, done that and choose to spend their extra money smartly, with whatever they deem to have the best value to them.

I have been on 37 Carnival cruises and spend more now than I did back then. You speak of Carnival rose colored glasses that some wear, sure sounds like you have the anti rose ones on (which is fine). When the decision comes down to what the price of a photo on a cruise against the nickel and diming that NCL does, I feel just fine with my view....

OK then that other poster's comment does make sense - why not just put "FTTF" on the P & D luggage tags unless the suspected removal of that perk from P & D is coming as well?

Also, I mentioned above that prior to Carnival removing the priority luggage delivery from the suite perks, the tags had both indicators (Priority and FTTF), like this one:

Bingo.... I guess we will see

Do believe you are in the minority if you spend more now on a ship than before. Have learned that private tours are cheaper and better and how to save money on a ship and still have a great time. And think more people do as I do than you. However we should all do what works for us.

Just think that Carnival wants the blue cards more than the white ones on their ships

I have to agree that I spend less now than when we first started cruising. It used to be our family yearly vacation so we would do the photos, etc. and until we educated ourselves we booked Carnival excursions.

So now Carnival makes its money off of me based upon how many cruises I do vs onboard spending. I can see why they would be interested in attracting new cruisers. I think it’s always been like this though. The more you do something, the more you learn the shortcuts and become increasingly comfortable.

However multiply your number by the 24 or so ships in its fleet and 52 weeks a year and starting to talk about real money.

Do not like the fact that Carnival in its infinite wisdom is selling the perks that we paid for by all our cruises and when it appears that they will be pushing FTTF people over P and D's that is pretty awful IMHO.

Yes, it's a tick over $6M a year. Is that worth the tension and ill will it's generating with their P&Ds? Especially if the P&Ds lose some current perks and FTTF gets to keep them?
