Yes I saw something about that too on fb. We have an early morning sport fishing excursion in Mazatlan today, I’ll try to check it out later this afternoon.

Here is a photo from someone on our fb group taken today.

Arriving at Las Calitas

And here is a pic of large catamaran.27cc537bd7fed28868157ec8bb419fbd.jpg

Next here is a sequence of pictures of 2 scarlet macaws. (Remember we saw a pair in Costa Rica, but didn’t get any good photos of them). These two are trained, but they are beautiful. And they flew right over my head, one of their wings touched me!

Here is our view of the little bay and our bartender Ramone.c7e1ecac75787d5e090b90eccb866bf2.jpg

A tip to get a good spot is to go downstairs and start lining up while the crew is roping the boat in and preparing the gangway. Mike kept walking along the path until he found a spot with a table. There are very few tables along the beach. We also like a spot in the shade.

So after our first margarita. We went snorkeling, no pics of this. The water was greenish murky, we could see many angel fish, a puffer fish and some large fish, didn’t know name of.

Maybe this was just a bad day, but IMHO this was about a 2 out of 10 for snorkeling. If you are used to snorkeling in Caribbean or Hawaii this was pretty bad comparatively. We also didn’t snorkel very long.

Now some pics of grounds, hammocks, artwork. By the way the bathrooms were pretty nice.

This is not an excursion for people with mobility issues as you need to climb quite steep steps to get to restrooms and sports area to gather your mask and fins.

They have an open bar and you can have whatever you like all day. We chose margaritas and once cervesas. They were basically bottomless margaritas all day. We loved this place! We played cards at our table.

So snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddling and the use of tubes for floating is all included as well as drinks and a huge buffet lunch. They had great food! Here are pics of restaurant area and food.a2ff3a954af3ba1bcf597a3a16a4348c.jpg

I LOVE Los Lobos. I was hoping it'd be on more ships by now. It was our favorite restaurant on the Dawn, by far.

Still enjoying your report! Las Calitas looks very familiar. I'm pretty sure I went swimming with a seal there 13 years (& 20 pounds) ago. :D

Yes they actually brought in a huge sea lion to interact with people. Many people gathered around. We see many sea lions in Newport Beach, Ca. So no pics.

Also one of the $ add ons was swimming with sea lions.

Ok it was time to head back to the ship. A few last pics of Las Calitas:

Make sure you sit on the bottom of the boat on the way back because the crew puts on a funny impersonation singing and dancing show! I’m not sure if the people on top got to see it.

Here are slash and axel:

They serve rum punch and we were having fun!

Back onboard, we do a towel exchange, then go to spice h2O and get a mango melt down. We are wiped out! And pretty smashed! We go to our room and pass out! I fell asleep on our balcony. Mike falls asleep on bed. Then I wake up literally 2 minutes before our 6:15 reservations at la cucina. I call the concierge and she fixes our problem for us and changes reservation to 8:30. Thank God!

This is the funny part: I go back outside on balcony to sleep off my margarita coma, Mike goes back to sleep on the bed. Curtains are drawn. Let’s say it’s around 7:45 by now. Mike wakes up, I’m not in room. He thinks I went to the spa. He gets dressed and goes to the casino. It’s now 8:15 and he is ready to go to la cucina. Meanwhile sometime in this time frame our cabin steward L.V. comes to clean our room and make our towel animal. He luckily sees me sleeping out on balcony, curtains are still drawn. Mike is waiting for me to show up at La cucina. He asked where is my wife?, when he sees LV. in hallway; it’s now 8:25! He comes booming into our room, I’m still dead asleep on balcony! I have to be ready in 3 minutes again! Oh no! What a disaster.

Well I go to la cucina looking like $&@!. I have no appetite. I was really looking forward to this meal too; especially the tiramisu. I forgot to bring my phone so no pictures, thank god. I was really out of sorts and just went to bed!

So much for day drinking!

OK I thought I knew all of the acronyms but what does SLO stand for. I know SRO is standing room only but I have no idea what SLO is.

From post #9

SLO: just meant that I might not be able to keep up to being actually Live, but I’ll try[emoji41]

Thank you Georgie562.

Again I decided to do this live review very early the morning of embarkation. I was too excited to think up a good title! I didn’t think to put Panama Canal in the title. I should have called this review:

Semi-live Bliss Panama Canal 5/10/18.

Live and learn.

Today’s excursion is sport fishing through NCL. We make sure we arrive very early for our excursions now. We meet at Bliss theater deck 7.

1f1adf4929379024a297c2753bfc5c21.jpg

We meet up with fellow anglers. And group up in groups of 6. We decide to hook up with 2 other married couples in our group. So 3 guys and 3 girls. We have us, Mike and Joyce, from California, Sara and Les from Missouri and Steve and Connie from Florida.

They give us bagged large lunch and 2 drinks included.

A little tram ride to our waiting passenger van. Drive to sport fishing area, where there are many fishing businesses here. I’m sorry but I didn’t catch the name of the fishing company name or even the name of our boat it all happened so fast.

So we get on the cabin cruiser. Minimally outfitted but efficient. Kept pretty clean. Bathroom is pretty good.

(It got hot later in day, no air conditioning. I staked out a spot to stand with breeze).

Our captain is Juan. Our deck hand is Ramone.

According to our van driver this is the tallest lighthouse in the world.

We will see many pictures of this mountain and the lighthouse. The mountain is very recognizable from the fishing boat weather near or far.

I’m not going to lie, a big part of trolling all day is patiently or impatiently waiting for fish to take the bait.

Mike says he wants me to be first up if a fish is on due to this review with its many followers. I said ok. Not much later, “FISH ON”

I go jump in the fishing seat. Wasn’t long before I pull up a small bonito.

No problem at all and I was not trying to give you a hard time, I just had not seen SLO before and had (still have) no idea what it means.

BTW enjoy your cruise and thanks for the review.
