Tipping in Norway.

Hi all. We are traveling to Norway on the Jade next month:hearteyes:. We have several excursions booked both through NCL and privately booked. Our past experience, mainly in the US, would be to tip guides, drivers etc. Wondering what people's experience has been in Norway. For instance, doing a bike excursion with mechanic who sets up bike for you. What about in restaurants if we do visit them. Esp. wondering about guides who spend several hours with us. If so, how much? Trying to find out if we need to bring krone for that purpose.

For instance, doing a bike excursion with mechanic who sets up bike for you. NO What about in restaurants if we do visit them. Tipping is usually rounding up to whole dollar. Check the receipt, you might also have a service charge added. Plan on 5-10% at most. Esp. wondering about guides who spend several hours with us. 10% guild and 5 % to a driver. If so, how much? Trying to find out if we need to bring krone for that purpose.

 

When tipping, think about this. If someone gave you Euro's in the restaurant you were working at in the USA, how would you feel? I always have local currency.

Thanks HavingFun. Just what I needed. Planned on doing any tipping in krone. Just wasn't sure what was appropriate/expected.
