12thAggie Posted May 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2018 I am seeking recommendations for a travel converter and adapter for use in France, Ireland, and Netherlands. I need to be able to charge laptop, tablet and phone. Thanks!
thinfool Posted May 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2018 Likely you need an adapter. US to european. Walmart sells a 'kit' for very little $$. The devices you list do not care what the voltage is.
wheezedr Posted May 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2018 All you will need is a simple $3.99 adapter. The electronics devices you mention are all dual voltage.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2018 You will actually need two different adaptors., one for the continent and the other for Ireland. The one used on the continent has two round prongs (and sometimes a third ground). In Ireland they use the standard UK plug which is somewhat unique (you might want to look at a picture on the internet). It uses 2 horizontal flat prongs and 1 vertical prong. As others have said, you can find adaptors and kits of adaptors at places like Walmart or you can simply order a set online from Amazon or other such places. The European power is 230 Volts (and usually 50 cycles). Nearly all laptop, phone and tablet chargers can handle 230 Volt but its always wise to check. The specifications should be on the adaptor (it can be hard to read without a magnifying lens) and will usually say 100 - 240 V. Hank
