RHilla619 Posted May 31, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Used uber for 2 people, cost roughly $40. We stayed at the Miami Marriot Biscayne Bay, it's a 2 minute ride to the port, and you can see all the cruise ships lined up in the morning from the hotel! rob6465 Posted May 31, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted May 31, 2018 I would use Uber XL. I did a test run and the price was $40 which is great but I wonder if the price is different on a sat at 11am?

When you access the Uber app it will tell you if there is a boost in price
Joebucks Posted May 31, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 31, 2018 If Uber pool is still a thing, I would do that. That same route cost me about $33 total for two people. You share an Uber with someone else, and it adds about 5-10 minutes to your trip.
Bert64 Posted May 31, 2018 #13 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Rental car. We always fly into FLL and have to get down to MIA. Not only is the car cheaper, but it gives us the ability to go out and about and not be stuck at the hotel. So we can grab dinner or go shopping. Then the next morning after you check out, drive to the port of Miami. Unload your bags and leave everything but your carry on with the porters. Then return the car at the cruise ship shuttle location near the port, and they will shuttle you back for free. Bonus: you'll be able to stop at Publix and load up on carry-on wine. JohninDC Posted May 31, 2018 #15 Share Posted May 31, 2018 For how many? UberX - good for 2-3 plus bags will be about $40; UberXL, good for 4-5 plus bags will cost about $75+ Taxi, including minivan & SUV cabs will also be about $75+ Tri-rail train is cheap - under $5 each - but not sure it will be running late at night. Why not stay near FLL and then head straight to POM the morning of your cruise? From MIA airport hotels you are still a 15-30 minute drive from the port -- about $30+ in a taxi. http://www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info. ;)
gorham cruiser Posted June 1, 2018 #16 Share Posted June 1, 2018 the hotel we say at Hampton inn and suites has a free shuttle to the ship.
JohninDC Posted June 1, 2018 #17 Share Posted June 1, 2018 the hotel we say at Hampton inn and suites has a free shuttle to the ship. So the cost/time to get to a hotel near MIA that offers a "free" shuttle to POM, compared to staying closer to FLL (where comparable hotels are usually cheaper) and the cost of just taking a shuttle or Uber from there to POM. I'd choose to stay near FLL, but it is your call. Have a great cruise! :D
SandyMIA Posted June 1, 2018 #18 Share Posted June 1, 2018 The train is the cheapest option at $3.75/pax. Shuttle takes you from FLL Terminal to station and the train arrives directly at Miami Airport where you can take your hotel shuttle. Train is clean and safe. And you don't have to worry about traffic. http://www.tri-rail.com
gorham cruiser Posted June 4, 2018 #19 Share Posted June 4, 2018 we like getting to Miami the day before the cruise. we stay in the Brickell section and enjoy the afternoon and evening walking around. last year we took in a cubs marlins baseball game. cost of the hotel was around 150.
BNBR Posted June 4, 2018 #20 Share Posted June 4, 2018 There is virtually never a boost in price at the airport. Tons of Uber drivers wait there for rides. I wouldn't worry about surge pricing at all. And yes, Tri-Rail is cheapest option but man, what is $25 worth to you?
