jordanaire Posted June 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2018 My sister and her family were on the Magic last week when the ship experienced propulsion issues. If anyone is on the ship now, is the ship still having issues? If so, has anyone said anything about when the repairs will be made? My son leaves on the June 30th sailing and is hoping it will be repaired by then. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Brad1972 Posted June 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Just left San Juan, moving along at 18.8 knots. Going into San Juan past track shows it did on average about 14.5 knots.
jordanaire Posted June 19, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Thx so much. My son is worried sick that Carnival will put ship in dry dock to repair the problem, thus canceling his June 30th cruise. jmcathome Posted June 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Probably will not go to dry dock early if they have to cancel a cruise. Just keep cruising and when something goes wrong will change ports and give a small refund.
petuniaflower Posted June 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 20, 2018 This is news to me..we are on the Magic in July..is a propulsion issue a big issue? In th event it doesnt sail, would they try and get you on another cruise for your departure? Our dates are not flexible:eek::eek:
Hoosierpop Posted June 20, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Carnival is changing the itinerary for next week (June 23) to match this week by removing St Thomas. Sounds like the top speed issue really is an issue. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Organized Chaos Posted June 20, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2018 We were on the Glory last week. The cruise right before ours experienced a small fire somewhere (as reported on these boards, but haven't read much else about it). They lost power and propulsion for a while. We wondered if it would affect our cruise, but we didn't experience a single problem. Cruised at an average of ~16 knots on the way down there and just over 19 knots on the way home. Didn't seem to be any lingering issues from the week before, so I wouldn't worry about it much.

proudpatriot07 Posted June 20, 2018 #17 Share Posted June 20, 2018 I'm on next week's cruise as well. I still haven't received the email. I knew about the change from seeing it in a Facebook group last night. We're only three days out and the whole itinerary has changed... I hope the emails go out to everyone soon. That's not much time to rearrange excursions and plans.

Mgrz89 Posted June 21, 2018 #21 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Does the email say why they’re eliminating it?
Palmetto Pilot Posted June 21, 2018 #22 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Does the email say why they’re eliminating it? It says there is a propulsion issue and the ship cannot maintain top speed therefore can’t make st Thomas in the time allotted. But they are working to fix it.
