on board credit

It is shown on your on board account which OBC amounts are non-refundable and which are refundable. The on board accounting system uses the non-refundable OBC first. It is also shown in the cruise personlizer under Payments and Credits.

it's not cash it is spending money to use on-board so you can spend the credit and save your real money.

There are two types of OBC...non-refundable and refundable which if $25 or less is a cash refund on the ship & higher amounts are refunded by check mailed home.

 

And this is how to know what type of OBC:

 

Look in your Personalizer under the credits and payments section. There is a notation next to each credit showing its type

Refundable OBC is indeed just like cash. We had about $6000 from a move down offer. We indulged in all the excursions we wanted and got a very nice check about 3 weeks after we got home.
