Cruise NH Posted June 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2018 After getting all excited about going on the Amsterdam's 2019 Grand Asia we found out they weren't doing it next year! We were really disappointed to say the least. Do they do the Grand Asia on any type of cycle? Might it be back in 2020? It's such a great itinerary. I would wait for it if I thought it was coming back. (and no we can't do this years - darn it) Thanks.

Tampa Girl Posted June 29, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2018 I don't think there is any regular repeat. It seems to me that it was about 3 years before the 2017 was repeated this year. I have been waiting this for at leas four years, and I am so glad we are making it this year. I wonder, too, how well this yea's cruise is selling. Wehwalt Posted June 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2018 If I'm not mistaken, the Grand Asia was one of the sailings that you could put a pre-deposit on. There is no Grand Europe in 2020, but as I recall, the other three were still on the pre-deposit sheet.

It was on the World Cruise of which I did a segment. It may only be on Grand Voyages. A copy is probably somewhere on the web.
LadyVol1 Posted June 29, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2018 You can put a deposit on a non-existent cruise? Good to know. Where is this pre-deposit sheet? I just called HAL’s World Cruise reservation desk at 1‐800‐522‐3399 and was transferred to a Grand Voyage specialist. The PCC told me that although there is no itinerary yet and no guarantee it will occur, she could create a FutureDam for the 2020 Grand Asia Voyage with a $100 pp fully refundable deposit so I went ahead and had her create a FutureDam for us. Maybe if enough people call, Holland America will make sure to have a Grand Asia Voyage in 2020! My husband and I took Grand Asia Voyages during the last two U.S. Presidential elections and very much enjoyed being out of the country during that time of year. And, yes, we voted absentee. (The PCC had never heard of a pre-deposit sheet.)

Wehwalt Posted June 29, 2018 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2018 (The PCC had never heard of a pre-deposit sheet.) Just the sheet we handed in onboard with $100/person for a pre-booking for the 2020 Grand Voyages. It had a place where you checked marked Grand World, Grand South America, Grand Asia. Not sure if it is a fleet-wide form or just on the Amsterdam.
Rare Gail & Marty sailing away Posted June 29, 2018 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2018 If you do it on a ship you get a extra OBC. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app

LadyVol1 Posted June 29, 2018 #14 Share Posted June 29, 2018 What is the advantage of doing this? Can you reserve a particular room? Thanks I specified a specific category guarantee but not a specific cabin. But I think you could specify a cabin if you wanted to. She asked me my bed type and dining preference and cabin category. And when the itinerary is finalized, I’ll either get an email or phone call in order to “really” book it. I know we’re going so I didn’t mind putting down $200. It’s fully refundable and interest rates aren’t high enough to make me feel like I’m going to lose a lot of interest while I don’t have that $200 in MY bank account!! StLouisCruisers Posted June 29, 2018 #17 Share Posted June 29, 2018 We put a $200 deposit on the 2020 Grand Asia and Australia cruise, whatever and wherever it is, while on our Grand Mediterranean and Africa Voyage on the Prinsendam this past spring. We don't have any details yet, but they said we would hear more by fall 2018. We chose a category and a choice of two cabins, and they will try to accommodate us. They estimated it would be about 80-81 days, couldn't tell us where it would embark at, etc. but we have the right of refusal if it doesn't turn out to be a good fit for us. Anxiously awaiting more information!

Still hoping they will have this cruise. We would be glad to sail with Gail and Marty and LadyVol1.
