Irons

As mentioned, there is an iron available (with ironing board) in the laundrettes on each deck, free of charge. But no, they will not provide an iron for in-cabin use.

Not quite. While there are usually several launderettes on Carnival ships there isn't one on each deck. I wouldn't want to misinform the OP.

Often the irons are the Sunbeam Simple Press Iron with the Burst of Steam feature. There is no guarantee your ship will have this particular model of iron but I have seen them on multiple ships of the fleet.

Lol, just so the OP is not misinformed, I will say we don't know. Let us know what you find out after your cruise.

They do not have any for in cabin use, but like others have said you can go to the self service launderettes on just about every passenger cabin deck. They are hard wired into the wall and cannot be removed. Don’t know what ship you’re going on but here’s where they are on the Conquest Class.

Thanks FBW. I was going to ask the OP which ship in particular they were sailing and I could then give them the locations of the laundrettes. I suppose I should have qualified my earlier post with "laundrettes located on just about every passenger cabin deck" but oh well. Maybe the OP will tell us the ship so we can be more specific.

The subject is irons and I gave some detailed information on the topic of the thread: make, model and features of the irons typically available on Carnival.

Just their luck in this Conquest example they'd be staying on deck 3, 4, or 5. On Conquest class 30% of the decks do not have a launderette. Some Americans will never ask for directions ;)

Joe I do try to be helpful. I'm the member who advised you to install an ad blocker to your device so you would have a more pleasant viewing experience here on Cruise Critic. You reported back it made a positive difference and were most appreciative.

I'm not following what you mean. How would they be staying on Decks 3, 4, or 5 on a Conquest Class ship?

I've never sailed a Conquest Class. Some help I am but to be fair I got the iron info accurately as best as I can report from my experiences with Carnival.

I didn't pay that much attention to the brand of irons, but there are no passenger cabins on Decks 3, 4, or 5 on Conquest Class ships. There are irons/launderettes on all passenger cabin decks with the exception of decks 10 and 11. That is why I worded my response the way I did.

No worries. I try to be as accurate as possible here and when I am not sure I couch it in those terms. In this case I was a bit sloppy and not as specific as I should have been and I do appreciate your clarification. And yes, I do remember the ad blocker suggestion and it was (and still is) appreciated! [emoji6]

In over 35 Carnival cruises, I have never seen an iron on board any Carnival ship I've sailed.

That is because I have never been in any Carnival laundromat.

As a beginner cruiser I utilized the $15 laundry bag specials, and have continued that practice except it's been free for some time.

I've never seen a sunrise from any cruise ship I've sailed either. I can't stay up that late anymore!

yeah but a hot iron comes in handy for a wrinkled dress shirt on formal night--RCCL doesn't have an iron so I had to go with the alternative--put shirt in bathroom on hanger and turn on shower at hottest level. The hot mist works pretty well but there will be some moisture in shirt until it dries out

And check the bottom of the iron before you start ironing. A couple of them that I've seen have some crud on the bottom of them.

That's good advice wherever you go.

On the Imagination the irons in all the launderettes had burned on crud making them useless. As I was stepping out of the third launderette I spied a housekeeping supervisor. Upon hearing of the situation she took full responsibility to get the irons replaced by the next morning. When I returned to a different launderette the next morning the iron had been replaced with a brand new iron. Supervisor Delia earned high praise on the post cruise survey for that sailing.

Point being: if you see irons in need of repair/replacement it can't hurt to pass along your findings to a supervisor or to stop by guest services when they aren't busy to bring it to their attention. My posts here make it sound like all I do is iron on Carnival. :) Not so. I place shirts in plastic bags when packing and they still get long creases in them. Removing the creases takes 4 minutes when the launderette is vacant.

On a few NCL sailings we've been on, and as recent as the last couple of years, they do make irons and ironing boards available for personal use (like loaner fans) in your cabin. Perhaps it's only a suite perk, I'm not sure. We have taken advantage of it a couple of times. Have never seen anything like this take place on other lines we've sailed.

That's a convenient perk to have when you're rushed to get to the casino ;)
