Switch from Refundable to Non-Refundable?

Recommended Posts

I am booked on a cruise in Jan 2020. I booked as refundable since it is a long way out. I know I can call RC to get price adjustments down but I am wondering whether I can change to a non-refundable rate in the future as it gets a little closer? (assuming it would be cheaper)

Not sure of the time frame (allowed) but I have changed a few of my bookings to non-refundable and saved a few $$'s...especially once I booked the air.

In did for my upcoming Symphony in Feb. Did the change not only for minor lower price, but also there was a promo with $175 in OBC's for non-refundables.

If you had a reduced deposit for the original booking. You may have to pay the full deposit amount upon rebooking. Did you book direct with Royal or did you use a TA? most TA’s charge a booking fee and have cancelation penalties they could levy when you rebook.

Booked with a TA and they charge a $50 per if one cancels. This was a price reduction and not subject to a change fee. The TA that we use always wants the full deposit of $500.

Most TA’s don’t. If yours does it’s time to find a new TA.

We were two weeks out from final payment and we just switched form refundable to non-refundable and saved over $200. This close to final payment I felt it was safe.

No need to use such a TA. There are many that don't charge those fees that are just as good if not better.
