Chiliburn Posted July 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2018 I’m curious how a BTB cruise works? On the change over day do you have to leave the ship and go through the check in process again or is a simple process?
mechcc Posted July 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2018 From my understanding every port is different and our only experience was in Miami. They had us meet in a lounge and escorted us off the ship, through a short customs line, gave us our new cards, and we were back on the ship before any new passengers. Whole process took 30 minutes. Since we had the same cabin for both cruises, we told our cabin steward to skip making up our cabin that morning.
GUT2407 Posted July 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2018 Really depends where change over is. Never had to do anything in Australia, get off if you want or stay on, whatever you like.
awestover89 Posted July 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2018 Singapore we had the option to get off or stay on, but if we got off we had to wait until the regular boarding time for new passengers to get back on. We chose to get off and explore Singapore for a few hours, but I believe the people who stayed on were escorted off, through immigration, and then back on. Once we reboarded, we wouldn't be allowed to disembark again. US requires ships to "zero out", so all US ports will require everybody to get off the ship and go through customs. International ports may have different rules.
ONECRUISER Posted July 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2018 Only cruise on B2B. Most been said so far, longest ever took me was 90min sitting around waiting, least was about 25min... It's mostly to do with the Zero count, all off or and how long takes get everyone else off...
Chiliburn Posted July 15, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted July 15, 2018 So if you have the same cabin,do you leave you things in the cabin?
ONECRUISER Posted July 15, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2018 (edited) So if you have the same cabin,do you leave you things in the cabin? Yes, that's the best. Then while everyone else is waiting until 1pm to get in their rooms you are already back in your's hours before. If changing rooms you just pack things up and they will move it over for you. Anything hanging up in closet, leave it and they will move that also...... Edited July 15, 2018 by ONECRUISER

Just to clarify does this mean we can access our cabin at about 11am? We are doing our first B2B from Southampton, we do have the same cabin. I was just wondering will we need to take all my DS medications with us or can we get them from the cabin as needed, about 11 - 12 am.

The fire doors may be closed but there's no problem just pulling them open. If anyone in the corridor asks why you're there just mention that you're on a B2B and need to access your room. Your steward will know this anyway.
