Book a cat. BL and here's what you COULD get

In my eyes they did. In the past any category 7 balcony cabin would not have been included in the pool for BL cabins. This obviously has changed over the years. The fact that the Carnival Supervisor stated that he could pay to upgrade to a "standard" balcony speaks volumes to the fact that they do not consider the cat. 7 balcony cabins as "standard" and therefore should not be included in the pool of available cabins.

Thank you. that was the point of my original post, to let people know that this is NOW possible. It was not done in the past. We sail on 8/25 and to upgrade to a cat. 8A would cost $179 per person. I DID try to warn him, but I was thinking he would get stuck with an 8A at the very front of the ship or an 8B right under the casino or disco. I never imagined he would get anything other than a full, regular balcony.

Without belaboring the point then it would have been a standard bl. I have never understood people taking a “guarantee” and thinking they were getting the cream of the crop. You get the best price for taking whatever is left over (period). Like the old Spanish proverb says, sometimes the bull wins and sometimes the matador wins. Me thinks you learned a lesson, and its not caveat emptor.

I booked a guarantee balcony on the Pride leaving August 19. I was assigned an obstructed view. No big deal. I usually always book guarantee room. I just received an upsell for an extended balcony for $30 total. Jumped on it. Maybe he will get one.

I have been in the 7A's on the Spirit class ships and that would be an upgrade from a cove balcony. The obstruction doesn't start until almost the bottom of the balcony and you CAN sit in your chair and look through the plexiglass out to the ocean. It's kind of hard to sit in your chair and look through the superstructure :(

A Cove Balcony has been on my wish list. We got to see one on a cabin crawl on Vista and it was AWESOME! So close to the water you can hear it and you can see the ocean through the large window cutout and the 2 smaller ones towards the bottom. I would take a Cove Balcony over a regular one any day. In fact, a Cove would be the only balcony on Carnival I would stay in. Otherwise it's inside or OV for me.

Where is the "like" button on this post? You hit a home run, once we cruised in a cove balcony we prefer it over any other balcony. You get such a wonderful breeze without the glass wall. I enjoy sitting out there with my glass of wine, reading and sticking my toes out thru the openings!

By the way, a HUGE thanks for hooking me up with that special person at Carnival to book our cruises!

We have had aft-extended, a mid ship, and a cove balcony on the Breeze. Hands down the cove was our favorite.

We were under the dining room just forward of the mid- ship elevators. It was quiet, convenient, and the shaded balcony so close to the water was amazing.

I wouldn't, however, want a cabin under the galley. FWIW whether noise from the galley bothers you will probably depend on your own rise and retire habits.
