Towel Critter Posted July 20, 2018 #26 Share Posted July 20, 2018 No it’s when they just chose past cruisers at random and gave them a free cabin. I though it was a scam so I called Carnival and nope....totally legitimate do I booked the Breeze for a six nighter.Oh yeah! I remember that. I remember checking my VIFP specials every day, hoping I would get a free one. Never happened, but I'm glad you got it! :)
gigem_aggies Posted July 20, 2018 #27 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Wow! What a deal. How'd you get it? Ours was a casino offer. We had sailed the Breeze in July, but had not spent more than $300 the whole week in the casino, so I'm not sure how we qualified for it. My husband, sister, brother-in-law, and myself all had the offer. It was just a few months after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, so I'm guessing Carnival was just trying to get people on the ships in hopes they'd spend some money and makeup for their losses. GAMOM4 Posted July 20, 2018 #30 Share Posted July 20, 2018 I had got off a 5 night cruise on the Carnival Paradise in October 2017 ...... on a Sunday about two weeks later ... if that long .... I received a phone call from my PVP saying he had a free cruise I could take the next day out of Jacksonville .... luckily this is within driving distance from my house about 3 1/2 hours (closest port to me) .... I found someone to go with me and all we paid was taxes and port fees ....... and of course tips ... the cruise itself was totally free .... but like I said I had to be able to leave the next day which was no problem for me ... my suitcase was still packed from the prior cruise ....... tree.critter Posted July 20, 2018 #32 Share Posted July 20, 2018 No special offers for me but got a rare window to purchase solo with no supplement. Did 9 day Dream southern reposition cruise from Canaveral to New Orleans in 2014 $999, gratuities and port/tax fees total $1196 for 8P spa balcony solo. I haven't seen them offer no solo supplement ever since.
SadieN Posted July 20, 2018 #33 Share Posted July 20, 2018 (edited) 2 day cruise $25/pp with $25 OBC also got $50 Shareholder OBC and got a port refund OBC. We had to pay port fees. OV was $10 pp more. Princess couldn’t sell their 3 day cruises out of Los Angeles. To fill up the ships they were offering your fare to go towards a longer cruise. So our $600 3 day fare lowered our 10 day cruise by that much. People were booking b2b2b2b (2weeks) to get to Elite. grandmarnnurse Posted July 20, 2018 #34 Share Posted July 20, 2018 It was in 2004, and was a “Past Cruisers Cruise”, with a whole lot of goodies waiting for us in our cabin! It was NYC to Nova Scotia, ocean view cabin, total price for 2 was only $400!!!! We were on the Victory. That was the best deal we had offered—back when ALL past cruisers were treated like royalty, not just Platinum and Diamond. Djptcp Posted July 20, 2018 #35 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Free cruises from casino bounce back offers - only have to pay for taxes/port charges. Second best are our $50 per person casino bounce back offers with $100 OBC. You can bet we take advantage of them:D
bakersdozen12 Posted July 20, 2018 #36 Share Posted July 20, 2018 The best deal I have received was on an upsell offer for our Alaska cruise. We were upsold from an interior to an extended balcony. We paid $2,185.87 in total for the 8 day cruise, which was $273/night. As a comparison, an extended balcony for next year, for Alaska during the same week we cruised, would be $3,091 or $442/night since it's only a 7 day cruise. And, not only did we pay way less, the cabin we were upsold to (6 days before we sailed) was an accessible cabin, so it was laid out sideways. Making the already bigger balcony twice as long too. It was absolutely amazing.

No offense, but "free" casino cruises are rarely ever free; they are prepaid with the money you give the casino. They want you to come back because they know they will generate more revenue off of you. They are not stupid, and wouldn't just give away cruises unless they were getting something out of it. Doggielover68 Posted July 20, 2018 #38 Share Posted July 20, 2018 In 2014 we got a guaranteed balcony on a 7 day Carnival Splendor cruise for $349 per person. Ended up with a balcony on Lido deck and it was amazing. We don't use the casino so no deep discounts for us, but we also save by not spending money in the casino lol Sent from my iPad using Forums
Trishlo73 Posted July 20, 2018 #39 Share Posted July 20, 2018 This made me LoL:'). I would never share a room with two teenage sons. It makes me want to jump of the ship just thinking about it:'). I still love them just not sharing a cabin. Exactly! Now we book a balcony for us and an interior for them, at least 3 doors down, lol! That way we don't have to see how messy their cabin truly becomes. We tip their steward extra!
nursemommy7578 Posted July 20, 2018 #40 Share Posted July 20, 2018 8 day NY to Bahamas on Splendor. $425 cdn all in. Seriously. And I was a solo traveler.
2Shoes2Go Posted July 20, 2018 #41 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Three years ago we received Pack and Go Offers through DH's number. $25 each with $50 OBC. So, taxes and fees only. Booked eight. The kicker is we have never been in the casino on any ship or land. We still get casino offers (Premier and Getaway, too) and still haven't been in the casino. Maybe they hope to get us to go? clearwatergirl Posted July 20, 2018 #42 Share Posted July 20, 2018 A couple of years back best were free cruises from casino bounce back offers - only have to pay for taxes/port charges. Not the case any longer. Now it's some OBC but fare in addition to tax/port charges. Not so great any longer. Hoping for a better loyalty program soon! :)
Bunkie103 Posted July 20, 2018 #43 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Our best deal was a few years ago a 5 day Western Caribbean out of Charleston for $150pp. It was an inside room and they called on Wednesday for a cruise leaving on Saturday, but we figured at that price we couldn't eat at fast food restaurants for 5 days. Sayuil Posted July 20, 2018 #44 Share Posted July 20, 2018 4 day cruise on the Valor this past November was $25/person plus taxes and port fees. They also gave us a $50 OBC, basically meaning my husband and I got to cruise for just the taxes and port fees. Fingers crossed they do that again this year! :D Was it a Casino offer? VeeCee43 Posted July 20, 2018 #45 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Upcoming 5 day cruise out of Galveston, inside room $168, plus gratuities total. Have been playing mobile MyVegas game for about 1.5yrs. Finally earned enough coins to "purchase" a cruise.
Twintowngirl Posted July 20, 2018 #46 Share Posted July 20, 2018 I had a freebie cruise on the Breeze in 2016...received a certificate on a previous cruise that I blew off as a hoax. But when I got home and checked with my TA, it was the real deal. We did 7 nights to the Western Caribbean from Galveston paying only port fees and gratuities. Probably will never get a deal like that again. It was a casino promotion but I barely spend more than 100 dollars in the casino on any given cruise. Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted July 21, 2018 #47 Share Posted July 21, 2018 I didn't read the other responses, so if this seems redundant I apologize. I enjoy the casino, on average, two hours per night and we were LUCKY enough to receive two FREE cruises in a row, the second being the very expensive Alaska cruise. Returning to our cabin on the last night of a FREE CRUISE to find that we were awarded a FREE CRUISE from a FREE CRUISE was by far, our best deal! BTW, if you haven't cruised Alaska, you really, really need to!

cmptrwiz Posted July 21, 2018 #49 Share Posted July 21, 2018 We took a 14 day Western and Eastern Caribbean back to back for $519. Carnival gave us $200 obc for stock holders credit. We used SkyMiles for airfare and credit card rewards for a free hotel room. We don't live by a large airport so typically we drive 3 hours one way to save on airfare, but with skymiles we flew out of our small regional airport 5 minutes away. pghsteelerfan Posted July 21, 2018 #50 Share Posted July 21, 2018 May 2014 free cabin, just paid taxes and port fees. No it’s when they just chose past cruisers at random and gave them a free cabin. I though it was a scam so I called Carnival and nope....totally legitimate do I booked the Breeze for a six nighter. Same here! I know many were upset over the fact that some received the free cabins while many others didn't. From my understanding, it was a random drawing of past guest numbers and mine happened to be one of the lucky ones. Believe me, this could not have come at a better time for us. My husband had been laid off from his job for 6 months when I received the letter and was still looking with nothing very promising, so it was definitely a mental "pick me up" for both of us, not to mention it was also during that dreaded 2014 winter. We weren't going to take advantage of it, but then my husband decided to go ahead and go. His reasoning was that when he did get a job, it would be at least a year from then that we'd be able to go on any vacation. We've been very careful with our money so we did have savings and went ahead and booked Liberty for a 7 day, western Caribbean cruise in April 2014. So even with the upgrade to a balcony cabin, port fees/taxes, and airfare, it was will cheaper than the land vacations to NC/SC beaches that we usually do. We enjoyed the cruise and hubby finally got another job, which he still has, thankfully. On the morning we got back into Miami, Breeze followed us in (that would have been April 12, 2014), so curious if you were on that cruise. If so, I have pics of Breeze coming in behind us. :)
