kruzinkel Posted July 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2018 I have read several conflicting reports here about balcony dividers- hoping someone has been on the NOTS lately that can answer my question. I have 7388 and 7390 post dry dock Feb 24th, 2019. I know the official word from RC is that those dividers can only be opened for cleaning, but I know that a room steward could open them if we asked real nice. I am traveling with some friends for a girls trip and we would love to have that shared balcony. Anyone faced any challenges requesting this lately? Rare BillOh Posted July 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Good point about asking for updated info. For years Navigator was notorious for not allowing it. I had connecting balconies back in 2009. I'll watch for updated info.
kruzinkel Posted July 20, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted July 20, 2018 the woman who booked my reservation thru the casino yesterday was funny. she said "officially, those dividers are only opened for cleaning. But what happens on Navigator stays on Navigator." I took that to be they don't want to tell people they can do it, but if a room steward does it after being begged by 4 lovely women? It could happen!
Clarea Posted July 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2018 My understanding has been that no aft balcony dividers can be opened on Voyager/Freedom class ships.
DonnaK Posted July 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2018 I was told that the reason they hesitate to open balcony dividers on Mariner and Navigator is that these dividers swing open like a door and have to be secured to the railing, which is not as safe as dividers that slide open into itself like sliding doors like they have on newer ships. However, someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the aft balcony dividers on Voyager and Freedom class ships are bolted in place and cannot be opened at all. kruzinkel Posted July 20, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted July 20, 2018 (edited) in doing a search here, I found this from November- which would indicate that Navigator can be opened. Just trying to find out for sure. Attention: Oasis class, yes. Quantum class, yes Freedom class, yes Voyager class, 2nd generation, yes (Navigator & Mariner) Radiance class, no Vision class, no Edited July 20, 2018 by kruzinkel kk

That's the way I thought it was too Donna.
