Prinz Posted July 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Any adults making use of the new wristbands on Seaside? Cost? Convenience? Dunno about the cost, they came with the YC. Not that useful for us. Casino and embarkation/disembarkation still required cards. Elevator and yc access doors only worked some of the time with the wristband. And you don't need a card or band at all inside the yc. I wouldn't have gotten any if they weren't free. Rare Beamafar Posted July 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2018 We, too, got them included as we were in YC - we gave up on them after the first couple of days. I wouldn't purchase them.
Rare Cruisergal1208 Posted July 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2018 They cost $5 if not included in your booking
FRMCRZR823 Posted July 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2018 We were in aurea and got them for free in march. My husband and I loved them when walking around the ship, we didn't have to worry about bringing our cards. This is especially helpful as being a girl sometimes outfits don't have pockets. The downfall was that you couldn't use them to get on and off the ship.

Totally agree that I wouldn't pay for them. What made you give them up? Please let us know the short comings. Thank you!
marcoigna Posted July 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 30, 2018 we were in the YC and got them complimentary - we totally used outs and took off after the 2 weeks on the ship - yes u need the card to get on/off the ship, but then u also need your wallet and other items to get on/off, so this was not a deal to grab the card - but to tap everywhere without trying to find your card, then to find a place to keep your card somewhere was totally worth it and I would 100% pay for them if they were not included....TAP TAP TAP - amazing... For us the reason to give them up was because there was never a case where we could use wristband instead of the card.Inside the YC you don't require your pass or wristband anyway. When we went outside the YC it was to go to the casino or leave the ship, both of which could not be done with the wristband. sverigecruiser Posted July 30, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 30, 2018 you can use either the wristband or the druise card - no issue there That's what I meant. Card or wristband is needed even within the YC, not to order drinks but to open the cabindoor.
Prinz Posted July 30, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Didn't you required one of them to open you cabindoor?Yeah, fair enough, that's true. ( although there's always someone within earshot that can open the door for you ).We found that the wristbands were unreliable when it came to opening the cabin door, same for the door to the yc. Prinz Posted July 30, 2018 #14 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Couldn't you use it to order drinks?Drinks are included. So as long as you're insider the yc there's no need for them to even check. Even if you were to order like a bottle of dom perignon or something, they knew who you are and don't need the card to put it on your room. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Forums mobile app I understand why you didn't wanted to use the wristbands if they were unreliable. They should have given you new ones. Maybe they did and they were unreliable too? We used our on the Meraviglia last summer and they always worked.

Prinz Posted July 30, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Didn't they work to order drinks outside the YC?Yeah, but we really only went to the casino outside the YC. And they need a card, so...I understand why you didn't wanted to use the wristbands if they were unreliable. They should have given you new ones. Maybe they did and they were unreliable too? We used our on the Meraviglia last summer and they always worked. My wife's didn't work at all at first because I guess it was configured wrong. The new one worked sometimes on the door. She found the wristband annoying just to wear though, and took it off. I still had mine on part of the time since I didn't really notice it on my wrist. Two Wheels Only Posted July 30, 2018 #18 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Didn't they work to order drinks outside the YC? Yes, they do...ours did. I think that sometimes, the wristbands don't always work reliably so some people give up using them. A Yacht Club wristband has the added benefit of causing lines and crowds to part like the Red Sea. ;)

All good here. I would really hate to see them disappear. Just my opinion and experience. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

bug18 Posted July 31, 2018 #22 Share Posted July 31, 2018 I was not in YC so paid $5 for the band but after a couple of days, I stopped wearing it. I found it very annoying that although it unlocked my cabin door, I had to have my card key handy anyway to turn the lights in the cabin on, so it didn't seem worthwhile to me. I just feel like it's in that awkward in between stage. I want it to unlock the door when it gets close enough. Turn on the lights in the cabin without having to slot a card. Register my seat at the blackjack table when I sit down etc.. If people like it at this early stage, they'll keep developing, so I'm happy that others already like it.
