Rare Lois R Posted November 26, 2018 #1056 Share Posted November 26, 2018 Jilly, sounds like an amazing trip. Welcome back. Before I forget, I want to wish all my friends who celebrate, a Happy Thanksgiving. I probably won't be on here for the next few days. My sis and bil moved to Mexico a couple of months ago and I am flying down to see them on Thursday morning and will be back Sunday night. I am staying at the airport tomorrow night because my flight is EARLY and I don't want to drive to the airport at 4:30am....so much easier to stay at hotel tomorrow night and the place has a deal where I can leave my car there and they shuttle you to and from the airport. Hope all of you have a great Turkey Day and for everyone else just

Rare mysty Posted November 26, 2018 #1059 Share Posted November 26, 2018 Golfers here try very hard to extend the golf season. Myster thought fellow golfers might enjoy this. autumngolf.mp4
UpstateJan Posted November 26, 2018 #1060 Share Posted November 26, 2018 Greetings Cooler-folks, I am in dire need for some guidance - port related. We have a cruise coming up in less than 120 days (YAY), and we registered for the shore excursions this weekend. For the most part, we were in sync for what we wanted to do. So, there are two ports we are stewing over: 1. St. Kitts - anyone been there, and if so what did you enjoy? 2. St. Barts, not a lot offered, and we're in port for a long time. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks! Jan

Rare mysty Posted November 26, 2018 #1062 Share Posted November 26, 2018 Thanks 57V! I'm sure Myster would have definitely been "ouching" if he had ended up in that fix. 🙂

Rare mysty Posted November 27, 2018 #1064 Share Posted November 27, 2018 This is why I am keen to get out of Dodge for the upcoming winter. The Weather Network has released its forecast for the temps and snow. "From the Great Lakes to Atlantic Canada we are seeing a preview of what will become the dominant pattern for winter. This is quite different from what we saw the last time that we had an El Niño three years ago (2015-2016). However, this year’s version of El Niño will be much weaker and a number of other factors in the global pattern will contribute to a longer and colder winter for this region." "The dominant storm track this winter is expected to be from the Gulf of Mexico, up the eastern seaboard of the U.S. and into Atlantic Canada. This is expected to bring above normal precipitation (including snowfall) to Atlantic Canada. " For my province of Ontario......"A long, cold winter is probable across most of the region. Colder than normal temperatures are already in the books for October and November and this pattern should dominate through the winter, especially during the season’s second half. Winter will take a breather at times during December and the traditional January thaw is still expected across southern areas with the potential for an extended thaw before a bitter conclusion to winter. UKCruiseJeff Posted November 27, 2018 #1065 Share Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) Good afternoon all . Today was mussels in sweet chilli sauce (think of Singapore chilli crab .....) with wholemeal bread to dip with Gösser beer. silkismom Posted November 27, 2018 #1067 Share Posted November 27, 2018 Looking at the winter for CO, sort of normal--whatever that is. We just hope for a lot of snow in the mountains to fill our reservoirs and keep our trees from burning next summer. Since we'll be home for all of winter for the first time in years, we'll see. I guess I might need to learn how the snow blower works since DH won't be able to. (sigh) I look at all the food porn and then in the frig for leftover ham, again. UpstateJan Posted November 28, 2018 #1070 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Besberry, thank you for the suggestions! UKJeff, oh my goodness, chili crabish mussels, that looks really good Mysty, nice funny, it's appropriate after our long weekend, it feels like I've been time travelling all week. Looking forward to your updates from far-flung travels, give my regards to the cute little Orangutans in Sandakan ("Borneo, where everything is small and adorable, especially the people" quote from Tan, our guide). Rare mysty Posted November 28, 2018 #1072 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Oh Jeff, thanks so very much for posting this!!!! I really wish there was a "LOVE" button. So many of the places we visited in 2016 were in the video. The segment about flying into Bhutan was awesome!!!! This video is well worth watching for the visuals and the messages! MBP&O2/O Posted November 28, 2018 #1073 Share Posted November 28, 2018 Beware the St. Barts submarine! I do not suffer motion sickness (handy when I worked on ships!) nor do I overly mind enclosed spaces. On the submarine trip ... after ten minutes the first one left ... a green skinned female ... followed by several other. When the trip ended .. only two people had stayed below! No warnings were issued regarding either issue. We did a sort of ‘best of’ tour of St. Kitts which was quite good ... mainly due to the guide. Nothing special but easy going and pleasant ... AND we were back for lunch which is always a good thing.😀
UpstateJan Posted November 28, 2018 #1074 Share Posted November 28, 2018 lol... thanks MBP - I thought the green skinned female was referencing a mermaid, but alas, now I get it. I was on the sub in St. Thomas a lifetime ago (in the mid 1980s), and it was close quarters for sure. My partner in crime has never been in one before, then again, he's never been in an MRI either .....guess I should duct tape him, put a bag over his head, and toss him in the closet for 15 minutes and see how he does? Hopefully St. Barts is hike-worthy, since neither of us are shoppers. St. Kitts is a toss up, I want to see Nevis, he doesn't want to venture "that far". I wish we had the long day in Dominica instead of St. Barts..... Jan
