louieboy Posted August 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2018 We will be in Bermuda on the Serenade in October. Just curious which side the ship generally docks at the Dockyard or if it's different with each sailing. Not that it really matters but just wondering if we will be looking at the dock or the sea from our Balcony. Thanks!

blue_water Posted August 29, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2018 It’s always a surprise. But both views can be nice!
JAMESCC Posted August 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2018 It’s always a surprise. But both views can be nice!I kinda like it better on the land side or dock side because you get see the hussle and bussle of the port and there is a lot of drama on that dock believe it or not but either side gives great views. craftycruiser27 Posted August 29, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2018 First 4 cruises to Bermuda, the ship was port side to the dock. Once it wasn't so much fun with all the construction and pile driving going on at Kings Wharf. That was about 7 or 8 years ago. Last week on the ESCAPE, the ship was starboard to the dock at Heritage Wharf. It was fun to watch the ferries arriving and the people spilling out of them. blue_water Posted August 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2018 We prefer he ocean side but don’t spend much time on the ship... If we docked in Hamilton we’d want the starboard side...

blue_water Posted August 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2018 Ships only dock on the Starboard side in Hamilton. Exactly ;) Like to see Front St when docked, but the port side would be preferred for more quiet.

blueridgemama Posted August 30, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2018 There is no way to know how your ship will be docked but both views will be nice.
Charles4515 Posted August 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) There is no way to know how your ship will be docked but both views will be nice. I agree both views are nice. If the ship is docked at the Heritage Wharf berth some might be concerned about noise from Calico Jacks on the dock across from their ship. If people want to watch people running to make the ship on departure day they can go to an outside deck if their cabin is on the other side from the dock for that short period. When the ship is in port at the Dockyard maintenance is done and a lifeboat will be tested. That is one reason the ships are not always docked the same direction. Tides and winds may also affect the direction the ship docks. Edited August 30, 2018 by Charles4515
