kerryincork Posted August 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2018 What table charge are you referring to? Sent from my VTR-L09 using Forums mobile app
RPCVcruiser Posted August 30, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Table charge? Not sure what MSC does but NCL has a few free dining rooms, buffet, and a couple free restaurants (Noodles and O’Sheehans). There would be no charges at those restaurants and eateries outside of any drinks you may add. With the Specialty Dining Perk you would pay services charges when you sign up for the perk. Tipping for meals is done through a service charge that covers bar staff, hotel staff and wait staff. There are some items in free dining spaces that may be an upcharge like the good ole days of lobster and such. Did that help? If it didn’t please expand on your question so we can help Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted August 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2018 There was never a table charge on MSC when I cruised on Divina. What and when did this start? NCL has specialty restaurants which are an upcharge and MSC has some specialty restaurants as well, is this what you mean?
Rare ziggyuk Posted August 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2018 There was a typo in the MSC brochure which stated a $12.50 table charge (well written about n MSC forum) but that was just referring to the DSC, there is no table charge with either company. Myfamily3 Posted August 30, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Yes In this forum I noticed a table charge of 12.50 for the dining staff, and half price for kids.
ColinIllinois Posted August 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Yes In this forum I noticed a table charge of 12.50 for the dining staff, and half price for kids. No such thing on NCL.
GA Dave Posted August 30, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Yes In this forum I noticed a table charge of 12.50 for the dining staff, and half price for kids. Do NOT give them any ideas. "Okay, so if you want a table to place your dinner on, that will be $12.50. Chairs are $4.00 each. Napkin? $2.50" Utensils?........ :')
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted August 30, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) Is there a table charge for every meal like on the msc? Thank you OP, where are you getting this information? Please copy either the URL or the actual posted information. Very curious how this information could get out without some of us knowing about it. NM I found it. deliver42 Posted August 30, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2018 The $12.50 is your daily service charge, not a charge for eating in the dining room. If you ate in a specialty restaurant, then it's the 15% gratuity.
ColinIllinois Posted August 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2018 The $12.50 is your daily service charge, not a charge for eating in the dining room. If you ate in a specialty restaurant, then it's the 15% gratuity. Both of those numbers are incorrect. See the NCL FAQ's for current charges and gratuities. Rare ziggyuk Posted August 30, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Both of those numbers are incorrect. See the NCL FAQ's for current charges and gratuities. The $12.50 is from MSC not NCL.

Very curious how this information could get out without some of us knowing about it. NM I found it. I did explain where the bad information comes from above, here is the post on MSC forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showpost.php?p=54723131&postcount=
Rare BirdTravels Posted August 30, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 30, 2018 So,,, the answer to the OP’s question is “no”, there is no such thing as a table charge on NCL. And let’s leave it at that. If you want to discuss MCS, go to their forum.
Two Wheels Only Posted August 30, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Neither line has a "table charge". NCL has a DSC that is deducted per person (3 and up) per day or pre-paid. MSC has a "Hotel Service Charge" that is deducted per person (2-11 is 1/2 rate, 12 and up is full rate) per day or pre-paid.
