Snuffles79 Posted August 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Hi, what would be a suitable time to arrive in Southampton Port? Our check in time is between 12:30 and 3pm Thanks for any info :)
Corby114 Posted August 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2018 My family and I cruised on Royal Caribbean’s Independence Of The Seas fourteen day Canary Islands sailing on June 2nd,2018. We arrived by cab around 10:00AM and were among one of the first groups to board the vessel at 10:45AM. The largest group of passengers to board arrived between 11:30AM and 1:00PM. Heidi13 Posted August 31, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Hi, what would be a suitable time to arrive in Southampton Port? Our check in time is between 12:30 and 3pmThanks for any info :) Assuming you are staying in a local hotel, I would probably get a taxi or hotel shuttle to drop me off anytime after Noon. If you are not staying locally the previous night, I would make significant allowances for traffic congestion on local motorways, especially if multiple ships are in for TAR. If driving, I would allow at least an extra 2 hrs, probably aiming for 10:00.
Rare kctwinmommy Posted August 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2018 We had a boarding time of noon and walked over around 11. We were on the ship by 1145 though. It was a very smooth process!
jocap Posted August 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2018 The hours between 1.30pm and 3pm are very busy with coaches, which radio in with their times, and their passengers go straight into check in. If you're on a big ship, this can be many coaches either run by the cruise line or cruise specialist travel. You might be lucky, but it is a very busy time. Rare John Bull Posted August 31, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Marella Discovery? I don't know whether / how many coaches that would involve, but Jo has a point. I'd be inclined to cut along there about noon, might still be busy but I don't think you'll be told to wait before queuing to register. BTW, if it is Discovery she has a couple of sailing times, depending on the date. But LATEST registration / boarding time is normally at least 1.5 to 2 hours before sailing, so don't risk getting there after the 3.30 that you've been quoted.
