Hotspring Posted September 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2018 We are considering booking a stateroom on deck 15 on the Joy. However, reading elsewhere and past experience on other cruise lines , there is the possibility that we are going to hear deck and dining chairs throughout the day and night. Does anyone know if the Breakaway Plus ships (Bliss, Escape, Joy) fixed this problem or should we be seeking a stateroom elsewhere if we do not want to hear chairs scuffling above us at all hours. We know we never have heard even jumping or footsteps in floor above us when we have stayed under other cabins with carpeting.
gooch47 Posted September 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Never say never. We once had what I'm sure was people doing calisthentics in the cabin above us. Either that or they were on their honeymoon.

While not always a guarantee we always book with a deck of cabins above us.
zqvol Posted September 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2018 Is it a sun deck or is it the pool deck? IMO there is a big difference. I would not hesitate to book under a sun deck, but would never book under a pool deck.

If there are kids running on the deck, you will hear a dull running sound. If someone drags a chair, you will hear a dull dragging sound. None of the noises bother us. On most cruises, we have a room under the pool/sun deck (e.g., Deck 15). We have a room on Deck 15 booked on the Joy next year. We had a room on Deck 15 on the Bliss earlier this year. We had a room on Deck 14 (same, under the sun/pool deck) on the Getaway two weeks ago. Deck 15 forward on the Joy will be nice because it will be a few steps away from the Observation Lounge for a quick snack or drink.
