HHHawkeye Posted September 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2018 We have a scheduled a Regent cruise. After looking at shore excursions options, seems to be only morning options for every excursion. Does Regent not offer the opportunity to do 2 excursions in one day? An 0830 excursion lasting 4 hrs, seems to leave afternoon hours available. Are shuttle buses available if docked close to a village/town to go back in afternoon for walking around/shopping? Thanks
cwn Posted September 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2018 Most of the tours are morning departures. I will say that many times the departure time on the reservation will change some on the actual tickets you get once on board the ship. This past spring we did have the chance for two different tours - AM and another PM, not often though. Once on board if some of the AM tours had filled up and had a wait lists, they may be reoffered later in the morning or in the PM. We did change to later times a time of two. The taxis unions can force the use of taxis only, but most ports we have been to, do offer a shuttle into town, either through Regent, the port or maybe a local store. Travelcat2 Posted September 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2018 I believe that there has to be 1 1/2 hours between the time the first excursion ends and the next begins. In my opinion, overloading yourselves with too many excursions could leave you exhausted and not enough time to enjoy the ship.
Rare RachelG Posted September 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2018 We have occasionally been able to do 2excursions in a day, but rarely. Usually we do a morning one, have lunch in town if that is feasible then wanderon our own. They almost always run shuttles all day.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted September 27, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2018 And, of course, if you let us know more details beyond "We have a scheduled a Regent cruise", better answers could be forthcoming. Many situations are port dependent - remember that Regent doesn't operate the tours and has to deal with what may be available to them. On that particular date. I can remember when on a different line, I inquired about the paucity of the tour offerings. Answer - there was a 3000 passenger ship in port at the same time and their shorex department had snagged up the most desirable tours. In addition, there may not be afternoon tours available due to sailing schedules and local conditions. So, as in so many situations....the devil is in the details.
