Thanks for the review so far. Really enjoying it and feel like I'm there with you.

We'll be sailing on the Magic in January and this is a great overview.

James,

Thanks for your review and many pics. Looking forward to seeing the ship in person!

Back on board now from Cozumel... It was hot and humid all day, but at least it didn't rain...

My driver, Crescencio was right on time and waiting for me when I left the port facility.

And, my chariot for the day.

I always like to try new places whenever I visit Cozumel. There are sooo many great restaurants on the island. We headed North towards town, and then through the back neighborhoods, and ended up right next to the airport.

My first stop, and first dining destination of the day, Diego's tacos... It's basically just a little stand on the side of the road. No building or even restrooms, just a tent for the most part.

And, their famous fried fish tacos, with all fresh ingredients. Also, a side of great guacamole. The fish batter is so light, like tempura, and not greasy at all.

Also, there are three different kinds of sauces. Mild, hot, and really hot.

Next, we were off to the East side, also known as the wild side of Cozumel. Giant waves and nearly no people at all. Just a few ramshackle beach bars and a couple of beach clubs with restaurants. It takes about 25 minutes or so to reach the coast, and then we headed South on the desolate road to our second stop.

Welcome to Miami, AKA the coconut cabana, ALA 25 hour bar... It goes by a couple of other names too. Basically just a shack by the beach with a couple of tables and hammocks by the water.

They serve the freshest drinks in Cozumel, made by cutting and squeezing fresh fruit right in front of you and squeezing directly into your glass.

And, their great and unique margarita, made with lime, grapefruit, tequila (Don Julio reposado, in this case) and Controy, a Mexican orange liquor...

Next, we headed back North to the place where my heart resides on the island of Cozumel. Mazcalitos. Where the transversal road meets the road along the coast. I was there on what would have been her 50th birthday, and I had some drinks and convinced (paid, with Mexican pesos) them to hang a t-shirt that I made for the Spartan race the week after she passed... It's still there, but weathered by the storms. They always remember me when I come there, and their margaritas are my favorite on the island.

If you want to know the whole back story, you can click on my username and then click threads started by, to find my old text only reviews. I don't want to continue telling the story over and over again. This place is pretty emotional to me, and I feel like I'm repeating myself.

Anyhoo, I had another drink, then went over to the area where it is hanging.

It looked much better two years ago.

I decided to bring with me the Marilyn Monroe t-shirt that I wore the other day. I put the pink breast cancer pin on it and asked (paid with Mexican pesos) the bartender if he wouldn't mind hanging it up for me. Those guys like me there, and he had no problem doing it. (Other than going to get the ladder and hammer and nails. Then climbing the rickety ladder and doing the actual work)

Those guys there know I always take care of them, and that I'm very appreciative of their effort.

I thanked them, and paid for my drinks. As usual, I bought the unique cup that they serve the drinks in. They wrapped it up for me. I took one last glance at the older t-shirt, and we headed out back towards town.

We headed back towards San Miguel, the main town on Cozumel. I was hungry again, because I hadn't eaten in 2 hours. Crescencio dropped me off in front of another taco place that I wanted to try. Cuatro Tacos.

And, some pretty awesome tacos with four different types of sauce, ranging from mild to pretty hot...

Not that I really needed anymore, I headed to one of my favorite drinking spots in town. Dick's Dive, a great bar with great people, and most importantly great drinks...

I had a margarita with Don Julio reposado and Controy... ($200 pesos)IMG_20181005_152856710.thumb.jpg.8eb7d382a413b07f249c49b816f4101c.jpg
