Hi all sailing to Freeport Bahamas March 2019. Have sailed with Carnival 18 times and have always done excursions through them as to not be left behide! We don't want to do an excursion just a ride downtown and back with not having to worry about ship leaving without us. Thanks for any information, at our age we don't want to take chances.

In our trips to Freeport, there were plenty of taxis going to the Port Lucayan area. They actually waited there while you were there and we rode back in the same taxi we took from the port.

Don't be so paranoid, you will not be left behind on a private excursion. A taxi is fine, they are everywhere.

Yes, you are right. The day we spent kayaking through a beautiful mangrove forest and swimming at a gorgeous, completed secluded beach was definitely not worth leaving the ship for. [emoji849]

As the OP said, they want to go to DOWNTOWN Freeport. I haven't been to that part of downtown in your photos. What's it near?

bakersdozen wasn't responding to the OP. They were responding to the person they quoted...the one who said it's not worth getting off the ship in Freeport.

Freeport is not worthy of leaving the ship

I wish I'd known this! I've been enjoying snorkeling, free beach, jewelry shopping, Greek food, casino, the square at Lucaya...

RogBus101 - hey! I've actually sailed with you before. Don't remember exactly when but at the meet & greet some game we played had you going to each person individually and introducing yourself.

Anyway - cabs have been easy to come by every time I've been in Freeport at the port and at the casino where I grab one to get back to port.
