Carnival Valor over Christmas: Fan or no fan?

Hi, gang! Cruising over Christmas on the Carnival valor. We have a balcony cabin. I have heard through the grapevine that we can request a fan, and fans will be provided on a first come, first served basis. With a balcony, are we going to need a fan? I figure we can just enjoy the balmy island breeze. However, what has been your experiences?

Many here will tell you that you are not supposed to leave your balcony door open to cool your cabin. The air conditioners for several cabins are 'synced' together. It screws up all of those cabins temps.

This is not correct per JH FB page. But he has confirmed it WILL shut off your A/C so can make for warm and humid sleeping. DH has a small 6" $5 metal fan from Wallyworld that works wonders. Just take an extension cord without a surge protector.

We had a fan on the valor. I bring one every cruise. If you go out on the balcony, there is a drastic temp change between the outside and the cabin and I wouldn’t combine the two. We just had an aft extended balcony on the freedom and I would either be outside enjoying the temp or inside. Some days, most days it was warm on our balcony and I would love to hear the ocean from inside the cabin but you are not supposed to prop the doors open.

We were on the Valor last month in a Lido Deck balcony. Forget the fan - bring a jacket. It was so cold in the dining room, steakhouse and theater that we made sure we had a sweater or jacket with us at all times when we were inside. In our cabin we had some measure of control and turned the thermostat well into the red zone (heat).
