the_dylaness Posted November 11, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2018 Hello, Can anyone tell me more about what type of paid exercise classes they offer, the duration of the class, fee, intensity, etc? I really like going to exercise classes at home (mostly body pump, spin, hot yoga) and would like to continue on the ship. I know there won't be hot yoga but I saw on some of the dailies they have spin, resistance training, and some others. Has anyone done any of these recently? What would you say the fitness level of these classes would be? Thanks!
SoberJulie Posted November 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2018 If you are semi-serious about yoga, I’ve read that you’d be terribly disappointed with the quality of the yoga classes. Im thinking of taking a towel or borrowing a mat and finding a quiet place to engage in solitary yoga. Spinning might be fun!
Chanbre Posted November 11, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2018 On the Silhouette in October the exercise room (part of the gym area) was often almost empty. Generally only one or two people doing their own exercise routines. I saw about five people maximum in the exercise room and sometimes none. Duanerice1 Posted November 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2018 Spin is spin. It's how much you put into it. The instructors (that I've had) were good, pretty high intensity. Came out of there with good workout. Cost was around $15 - a little less but tipped to round it up. Cruise last month had a waiting list for all the spin classes so if you want one, sign up early. Can't talk about any of the other classes. Have fun
the_dylaness Posted November 12, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted November 12, 2018 Thanks- I'll sign up early for spin and maybe skip yoga. I like a really vigorous class (I don't teach but I am a registered yoga teacher so high standards..) so doesn't sound that appealing. Were there other exercise classes besides morning stretch? JerseyGirlatHeart Posted November 12, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2018 FYI ... I too love to spin, but on both the Summit and Reflection the spin bikes weren’t that great ... the old crank type. But like previous poster stated, spin is what you make it. Covepointcruiser Posted November 12, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2018 The classes are not actually “Spin” but are indoor cycling classes. The classes are high intensity but watch the bikes. They are older and not serviced as they should be. Perhaps on the new ships they will get better bikes.
prim8keeper Posted November 12, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2018 Bummer to hear about the spin bikes on board. We have a Peloton at home and I was hoping to take a few classes on Equinox next week. Might have to rethink that. Edge will have Pelotons so I’m wondering if they will put them on the other ships during the dry docks?
BeeMinor Posted November 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 12, 2018 According to the cruise planner, Edge will also offer barre and cardio boxing classes. I'm planning to checking out both, or at least attempting to use whatever barre I assume they'll have installed in the gym in tandem with streaming classes.
