Diamond lounges are over capacity and guests are being turned away

I met opposition on another thread when I suggested making DL a loyalty lounge for D+ and P  during cocktail hours only and giving D members extra drinks vouchers but still allow them access to the lounge after cocktail hours for coffee.

It's hard to have something taken away once its' been earned.

Having said that, it actually sounds like a great idea. What's the point in having an "exclusive' nightly event when half the ship in eligible to show up?

To all. stop reinventing the wheel!  If you want the DL to be less crowded, maybe RCL should go back some 15-20 years ago practice and only have wine and some munches in the DL

To Biker, beating a single dead horse does not do it anymore-I Guess you need to come up with a double dead horse.:classic_biggrin:

Many Diamonds and even D+ and Pinnacles book inside rooms and use the lounges as there hang out spots.  They come in and park it and spend hours and hours in the lounge, even during "peak" times.  Nothing wrong with that, they paid for their cruise and have that perk, but it does limit availability.  It's rather easy to reach loyalty levels, especially if you are booking inside rooms, do short cruises...there are many strategies here. It's too late now but RCCL should have used a combination of factors to determine status level, number of nights, number of cruises, frequency of cruises, stateroom level you book, and what you spend once on board.  We are D+ and will get to Pinnacle early in 2019, actually during our b2b on Allure in April.  All of our RCCL cruises have been in full suites.  So stateroom type should be in the equation to reach loyalty status.  How many Pinnacles or D+ have reached that level booking inside rooms...how many have reached that level booking full suites? I personally have friends that are Pinnacle and D+ that try not to spend a penny once they are on board, others spend money on specialty dining, excursions, at bars, casinos, etc. Should that not count to RCCL for status?  I just think that what you are willing to spend of a cruise for your room should be part of it.
