Hi, we are first timers and so apologies if this is duplicated but can someone answer the following re princess cruise:

1) our first stop is bahamas  - do you have to pay for sun loungers on beach for the beach party?

2) does the cruise provide beach towels for each destination?

3) is it free to order room service to the cabin?

4) how long does it normally take to board and leave?

5) are there always sunloungers available on the ship or do you need to pay to reserve?

6) evening shows - is it best to book these straight away on arrival and how do you do that?

7) are there any must do family excursions in bahamas, jamaica, cayman islands and mexico?

😎 formal nights - should my husband bring full suit or just trousers and shirt?

Thank you .

Lounges are free. There ia plenty of shade under the trees. You have to pay if you want one of the clam shells

Yes, get them from the Lido Pool area or ask your cabin steward

Yes, but a cash tip is normal

4) how long does it normally take to board and leave?

Lounges around the pool are free. Good spots are kind of taken by lounge hounds.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

You do not pay for loungers on the open decks. Its first come first served.

If you don't want front and center by the pool there are loungers available if you walk around.

Port days onboard are really quiet if you decide to stay onboard and get a lounger.

If you were to book the Sanctuary there is a charge for that which is a private area at the front of the ship.

brilliant thanks for the responses.

has anyone tried the dolphin swims or stingray activities?

thanks

The stingray activity in Grand Cayman is fun. Plenty of independent tour operators, no need to book with the cruise line.

2) does the cruise provide beach towels for each destination?

Yes, you can take the striped towels by the pool for use ashore.

3) is it free to order room service to the cabin?

Room service is free, but I believe there is a service charge for late night orders. A cash tip for the delivery person is always nice.

4) how long does it normally take to board and leave?

At the start and end of the cruise, or at each port? There is usually no wait to exit or return to the ship at each port, except when a tender is required.

5) are there always sunloungers available on the ship or do you need to pay to reserve?

Loungers are free. The ones around the pool are usually taken pretty early, but there are plenty of others available.

6) evening shows - is it best to book these straight away on arrival and how do you do that?

No reservations, first come first seated. If you are a group, it is best to come early to get seats together.

7) are there any must do family excursions in bahamas, jamaica, cayman islands and mexico?

Cruise attire is a hotly debated topic, especially on formal nights. Some people still like to get  dressed up in suits and gowns, while others opt to remain fairly casual (and everything in between). I wear a short cocktail dress and my husband wears pants with a long sleeve shirt and tie.

Thank you .

Here are my answers.

One added tip - bring a shawl or light sweater for the evenings. After a long day in the sun, the air conditioning on the ship can sometimes feel chilly.

thank you for the tips - I do get cold so will defo be bringing cardigans/shawls for the evening. Where did you find the independent tour operators? just a search on google?

thanks

Go down to the Ports of Call near the bottom of the home page.  Go to  Caribbean which lists all the ports you are going to. A lot of information for each port.

Here is some additional informational information

Princess Cays is a tender port. Between arrival and maybe 10 or 11 in the morning you will require a tender ticket to go ashore. Information regarding tender tickets is shown in the Princess Patter. Show up early if you want a full day on the beach. Your entire group must show up together if you want to go ashore together. One person can not get tender tickets for the group. It's one ticket per person. Bring water shoes. The shore entrance area has lots of coral stones. No need for tours, it's a beach day.

Jamaica. Where are you docking, Ocho Rios or Falmouth. If you are in Ocho Rios Dunns Falls is a popular tour. If you are in Falmouth you are an hour's drive from the most popular tours except for the river rafting. Falmouth is a big mall that you can walk around and shop.

Cayman Island is also a Tender port. Same instructions as Princess Cays. But if you are on a Princess tour you report to the location mentioned on your tour ticket. The staff will escort you to the tender. Princess tours get priority tender service. Sting Ray City is popular, but there are also nice beaches in Grand Cayman.

You should go to the Princess roll call for your ship and voyage. There may be private tours being organized there.
