KaraokeK Posted January 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2019 It is our first MSC cruise in April. We took advantage of upgrading our flight from UK to Barbados to Virgin Upper Class. It appears that this is a Virgin Atlantic Charter flight – not their scheduled flight to Barbados. Has anyone got experience of this type of flight with regard to baggage allowances - both hold and cabin. Many thanks
Epos Man Posted January 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) No difference if scheduled or Charter they are booking under Virgins rules Upper Class baggage allowance All passengers in Upper Class can take up to three pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 32kg (70lb) and with dimensions of up to 90 x 75 x 43cm (35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins). Upper Class All Upper Class passengers can take up to two pieces of hand baggage per person, weighing up to 12kg (26lb) for one bag, or up to 16kg (35lb) combined weight. So for example, you could take a 12kg bag and another little bag of 4kg. Edited January 6, 2019 by ikea logistics

Epos Man Posted January 6, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) No Problem Why anyone would want to take 3 full size bags on a cruise is beyond me but depends on how many shoes and handbags the wife wants to take and to be honest anymore than 2 in the cabin would be tight unless in a suite Edited January 6, 2019 by ikea logistics
phissy Posted January 6, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2019 We have purchased laundry package for our cruise, so we can take less luggage.
cruiser man 60 Posted January 6, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2019 On the laundry packages do you have to send all 20 or however many all that same time or can you send 10 one day and 10 later in week?

You can send them in separate batches. We had the 20 package and sent 10, 5 and 5.
Rare Beamafar Posted January 7, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 7, 2019 CF ... I read somewhere very recently that they're not allowing that any more and that you have to send all the items together (must check that out in a couple of weeks; I rarely use the service so wouldn't have asked, otherwise). CruisingFox27 Posted January 7, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 7, 2019 Interesting, although I can see how this would make life easier for them and you not needing to keep a record. It was only last month we sent ours. Perhaps introduced with all of the other changes last month but as we were already sailing and YC it was allowed. I normally fly with British Airways and I don't understand why anyone would want a 23 kg carry on! (The small extra item allowed also has a 23 kg limit so it's possible to bring two 23 kg bags into the cabin when flying BA!)
